We used to have cheese in a tube in Canada, but the opening was on the side instead of the end. And it might not have actually been cheese. It was cheesy anyway.

We used to have it sometimes for long car trips. You could have cheese and crackers for days. It didn't seem to go bad. You had to squeeze really hard to get it out though.

Vague memories that the bacon and hickory smoke were absolutely vile. But the plain cheese ones were okay.

In Kansas City at least, the third popcorn is usually cinnamon. I personally can't stand it, but it's traditional.

Cheese and caramel popcorn mixed is so normal to me I wasn't previously aware it was supposed to be a regional thing, I think it's quite nice :shobon: never in my life heard of cinnamon popcorn though wtf

That's where I am on it, we'd have those big tins every year and it would be a split between:
Caramel - instantly gone, everyone went for it
Cheese - my favorite, less popular overall
Plain - sits around for days because nobody could give a gently caress

But nobody would've ever thought to combine any of them, those dividers were sacrosanct :lofty:

I didn't know about Chicago mix until this year and it was pretty good. Nothing too crazy about it really, but it does work.

I have known about those 3-flavor popcorn tins for decades, and I'm sure at some point I ended up mixing them together, but I didn't know it was this whole thing.

I remember having this on a camping trip in Nova Scotia when I was like five years old. There’s a great picture of me at a picnic table, putting my all into squeezing the cheese sausage onto a Triscuit.

It's called "tasting the forbidden fruit" because when you get a cheese dessert platter it's considered crass to eat the fruit because they don't go together.

There's a difference between "cheesy" and "savory" but (speaking for myself) it's mostly just fun to jape and jest, no one is mad about people eating whatever

OTOH have you considered that if everyone had exactly the same food opinions as you, then all your favorites would be in higher demand and cost more?

I'm a lifelong Chicagoan but I like cheese popcorn a lot and I like caramel popcorn, like, fine. I don't hate it or anything but I like cheese much better. The salty sweet is fine, but I'd usually rather eat like 80% cheese.

Seriously thought I think that's implied. I skipped that vid but if it's bad you don't need to be lenient just because it wasn't explicitly mentioned.
