The ultimate economic impact is that more Russian steel is going to be used and more pay will go into the hands of Russian workers, but not only will that cost be in rubles but those rubles will be used to buy goods and services within Russia’s. The loss of a ship means reduced capability, at least until a new one is built. Basically, think of it as a huge hole that the Russian government will pay its workers to refill.

I don't think Ukraine has a good way to use its air power to support grinding ground operations, so they inflict cost/pain on naval targets and some other costly relatively immobile targets where they can. A cruise missile strike isn't going to do much to materially affect the front line fight over Avdiivka.

Emphasis on the "black eye" part as opposed to, y'know, an actual defeat of Russia militarily. Having its naval assets hit will hurt Russia for sure but it's not going to prove decisive in this land-based conflict.
