2024 is the 25th anniversary and it's already been confirmed to have a new 4K DCP. Only question is whether it'll be through Warner directly or Criterion. Lolita has also been rumored to be with them, so I can see them doing both and a 4K upgrade of Barry Lyndon before the year is out.

There's enough to improve on that Shout could license it for a packed Scream Factory edition.

- Both the American and International cuts (though, unlikely to get the "first week" ending) seamlessly branched
- Lossless original mono track
- Original Warner logo
- Making The Shining remastered in HD
- Original trailer in HD (omitted entirely on the 4K combo)
- Probably could add a few more commentaries and interviews
- Maybe could even include the 1.33:1 unmatted version in HD as an extra

Probably not terribly far-fetched as they were able to get JFK from Warner, not to mention they just teased a 4K upgrade of The Thing despite Universal's own edition (which doesn't have all the audio mixes or extras Shout has).

Any chance that the new 4K of Stop Making Sense is going to be released by Criterion or A24 themselves, or really any label at all? I just watched the original and knew I had to own the remaster as soon as it's possible to do so.

Umbrella have announced a couple of titles. Larry Clark's Bully gets a second blu-ray release, after Studio Canal released one in France a couple of months ago.

The other is the Australian cult classic Dead End Drive-In. It looks like their version completely one-ups the previous Arrow release something fierce. This has a restored version of the rarely seen Australian VHS cut, alongside the International cut and other goodies like a first-ever release of the OST on CD, a t-shirt, a bunch of trnkets like a keychain, a copy of the screenplay and writings on the film by the director Brian Trenchard-Smith (who is basically the king of Ausploitation films) and producer Damian Parer.

A bit pricey though, at 150 Australian dollaridoos.

I really like the series a lot, so I'd say it's worth checking out the first one to see if you like it. The plot is weirdly busy and has a lot of stuff you need to remember, but they get easier to watch as you go.

I have them all through Arrow but I think most of them might be out of print. If you haven't already seen them, I'd recommend checking out pretty much any 70's Japanese movies Arrow has put out though.

On that note, if anyone has copies of the first two that they're not using, hmu because I have films 3-5 i'd like to get watching.

maybe it is a region thing, arrow uk still has all the individual releases as well as the boxset available:

https://www.arrowfilms.com/battles-without-honor-and-humanity-the-complete-collection-blu-ray/13167090.html

the boxset is pretty regularly on sale, i got it during the summer sale this year for £30

the product details say region B, but i suspect they are the exact same discs as the region A release, i played them in my region A player without any problem

Just went to a local game store, and before going in I said to my partner "I gotta see if they have Tekken Hybrid", because it's a rare-ish game that more importantly is the only way to have a Blu-Ray of Tekken: Blood Vengeance and I doubted it would be at this small local shop. Lo and behold, they had it for $30, which is cheaper than the last time I looked for it online. I couldn't believe it and had to put my money where my mouth was. Immediately tested it on my new player and yeah, it booted right up. It makes sense considering PS3 discs are just BD tech but it's still really cool that it plays on my new 4K player.

The used disc store next door also had Ravenous on BD, the Arrow release of Audition, and the Nearly-35th-Anniversary Edition of The Muppet Movie BD. I traded in some old DVDs and some VS buys I was done with and got the lot for $4.

All in all, a successful shopping day. But I should probably stick to upgrading instead of buying new things, because I'm running dangerously low on shelf space for things that aren't going on the TV show shelf. :ohdear:

I went to Bestbuy.com to see if maybe they had a better price on Face/Off. Nope.

Checked upcoming releases, just Blu-ray’s for the next couple of weeks. It’s over.

Gonna be difficult to decide who I patronize next, because BBY was super convenient for me.

EDIT: the awful Disney anniversary Steelbooks are $9.99 on BBY.com though. So, might be worth checking out!

I wouldn’t be surprised if they get back in the game. Another pressing plant is opening up, and people’s frustration with streaming makes home media a good fit.

I was never a DVD collector but I've started buying Blu-rays here and there off of ebay. Between movies dropping randomly, a desire to not want to see ads, and being able to watch stuff offline it's been good to switch to physical media.

My only worry is storing them all. I don't want to end up a super hoarder with shelves upon shelves of discs.

Even with the shithead running Warner Bros. right now, every single Warner 100 branded individual release has been an actual Warner Bros. film.

Yeah, they suck rear end but cheap is cheap. I tried to hoodwink Best Buy into shipping a local store pick-up, but no... I'll have to go a few miles out of my way after work this week.... for the Quantumania steelbook. I watched it the other day, it had some fun parts and I like Paul Rudd as the character.

On the flip, I did buy a couple of KL 4K's from BBY and a few Arrow 4Ks directly from Arrow with their 20% off coupon. Hugo 4K LE, Carlito's Way 4K LE, and Silent Running 4K.

Apparently the Robocop 4k from Arrow is sold out on their website. OOP?
