Chill out thread, it's getting weird in here.

What's everyone's favourite soundtracks from games this year? Pizza Tower, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, Venba, Humanity, A Highland Song and Chants of Sennaar have all jumped out to me from stuff I've played this year for excellent soundtracks.

Am I allowed to count my Persona series LP boxset that finally arrived this year? If not, am I allowed to count remade games, because Super Mario RPG's soundtrack still slaps.

wo long's got some great mood setting pieces for its bosses; i'm partial to lu bu's theme, especially his second fight's phase 2, and zhang bao's theme. it's one of those soundtracks that doesn't blow you out of the water, but it's all rock solid highly listenable stuff

also it's not technically this year but tekken 8 has got some loving bangers, reina's stage has become a personal favorite

I said come in!

Gonna requote my self from the GotY thread:

quote:

Though in terms of amazing songs I want to recommend like half the playlist from Small Saga, one of my nominees for the year.

Though if I had to pick the song that most stood out to me it would be The Anthropocene, which goes wayyyyyyy too hard for a game about rodents fighting.

BG3 had a surprisingly good sound track for a CRPG.

Do they? It's usually JRPGs I think of as having banging stuff. Maybe I just haven't paid much attention, or tend to play shittier crpgs in terms of audio.

Talos Principle 2 had another great soundtrack to go along with the original as well:

They typically have more ambient, atmospheric soundtracks than JRPGs, they're definitely less melodic, but still typically very good nonetheless!

Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim's soundtracks have some of the best game music ever written.

Morrowind's theme is every bit as memorable as Super Mario 1's music to me.

Not a CRPG, but as a kid, his soundtrack to the first few Harry Potter games was easily on par with John Williams's stuff for me
