I would be willing to bet it does, but the deadman switch that would cut it off is zip-tied so that it’s always on.

It is absolutely designed stop itself in this situation, and that guy absolutely disabled the control that is supposed to stop it in this situation.

Even without sound you can hear the "welp, I quit" at the end.

A coworker had went to work for a company that had taped the deadman switch down on a ditch witch, and it took off from him and ran into a customer's house.

It might actually be safer than having a single board. All the ghosts just getting comically jammed together as they try to get through the door at the same time

Apparently it's like the sixth time the same trucking company has ran into overpasses in the last 2 years, so the companies trucking license was suspended and their fleet of trucks were taken off the road.

I am not an engineer of any stripe but digging holes underneath your house that weighs tens of thousands of lbs even before you count all the dirt you’re also digging under sounds like a good way to accidentally drop tens of thousands of lbs on your head if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing.

I fell down a reddit rabbit hole earlier about the tunnel woman. Her house is apparently the one in the top left corner. The consensus is that she's almost definitely strayed outside of her property boundaries, almost certainly condemned her house as well as seriously affecting neighbouring houses.

I mean I get the attraction. I would love to have tunnels and underground rooms under my house (first I'd have to get a house though) and it feels like one of those things a smart person should be able to do on their own.

But it also feels like a great way for a "smart" person to bury themselves under 10 tons of house and dirt because it turns out there might be more to the required calculations that are immediately obvious or can be learned from 5 minutes on Wikipedia or whatever the physics equivalent of StackOverflow is.

Building subterrannean stuff beyond a root cellar and emergency/bomb shelter goes fast to the game of "crazy prepper or sex dungeon".

And if you have a summer cottage with root cellar it really becomes obvious why building above ground is always the preferable option; even if your structure does not collapse and turn into a tomb, the moisture and mold gets everywhere unless you know exactly what you are doing.

I was convinced I had a secret basement under my house cos there was a weird depression in the dirt. After a few years I got down there and checked - it was a piece of MDF. But under that was a decomposing grenade. Your mileage may vary.

For me it'd be "drum room" or "home cinema" but I guess it's still a pretty short leap from there to insane prepper / tunnel war enthusiast.
