Why are there basically no USB splitters with two male ends? I can't be the only person who wants to plug a wired keyboard into both my work and my home computer at the same time and toggle. As far as I can tell either I'm searching for the wrong thing or Amazon has literally one option and I've tried it and it sucks and has massive connectivity issues.

The gently caress do people do, crawl around behind their PC plugging poo poo in and out every time they switch computers?

if one +5v is good, then two must be great

you can add your own drivers to the install image yourself, if you know what you're going to need. they don't constantly update the images with drivers for every piece of hardware that comes out.

in that case motherboard manufactures should have some kind of basic wifi functionality available out of the box and then once online it can download its snowflake drivers

don’t let the tech industry away with this bullshit

uhh windows 10 supports loading driver off a usb drive at install, this isn’t xp

unless there is a motherboard so cursed you can’t even load the windows installer without slipstreamed drivers

I simply plug in my android phone and touch tethering to download wifi drivers.

Even windows 8 embedded comes with android tethered drivers.

in this house the router sits at the front wall but I work at the opposite end of the house. it's old so the wifi signal had to go through three actual, non-drywall walls. made it slow enough to be an actual problem

so I put in a simple wifi repeater :unsmigghh:

and I let it auto-configure the channels and bands :unsmigghh:

might be using 2.4 ghz for the backhaul for all I know. maybe on a congested band :kheldragar:

imo it's more weird to act like stringing ethernet cables through your hallways or doing in-wall cable runs are the norm than to expect wifi to work

I am not sure I could do this

regardless the wifi is fine. I’d have to get a new router too coz used up these ports. but wifi on a desktop is solid, no compromises

If you aren't up for fishing inside the wall, a white cable running along the cornice and cleanly nailed into place is very unobtrusive. Some cables even come with the straps.

But yeah do whatever, put a radio in the desktop that never moves, deal with random dropouts and slowdowns when the kids are streaming and never actually get the throughput you're paying for. To each their own
