A day late for the 2024 roundup and cheating a bit since I only finished the Allarus custodes today.
But that's all I managed to get done in the two months of 2024 that I've been working on this stuff for, and I still haven't even managed to play a single game.

The Allarus were the most fun to build, they have like no pose options but they're also the least finicky of them all and don't have weird annoying parts to deal with unlike most of the other ones.

Vertus are second best, and the bike looks pretty darn cool once you're holding it in your hands and looking at it from other angles.

Looking at the Sisters of Battle Kill Team stuff, and is the outfit they are mostly wearing supposed to be power armor or like leather? The armor save isn't as good, so it obviously isn't the same power armor the regular Sisters get.

Yeah, they're new recruits wearing light armor being led by a single sister in the usual armor.

it's carapace armor, like SM scouts have

Funzo posted:

like someone said, traitor guard are in the CSM index. they're just not battleline, which makes no sense.

they're almost worth using. they have OC2. two plasma guns, a sniper or GL, and a bunch of bad shots are kind of okay when you give them 5+ lethals. alternately, you can give them nurgle to mildly discourage indirect shooting. their ability is kind of crap, but it means you can use them as home objective defenders and reserves screeners at the same time without worrying about needing to set up in cover.

however, they aren't 40% better at shooting, screening, or objective-holding than cultists. maybe if they get a points decrease.

an additional wrinkle: all of the operatives except for the gunners, the unit sergeant, and maybe the sharpshooter do nothing, and the ones that don't do nothing want different weapons from the kill team. the sergeant can have a bolter or a "corrupted pistol", which is an AP -1 bolt pistol but i guess could look like anything, and a power weapon, which has near-zero opportunity cost so you always take it. in KT, he always takes a plasma pistol and basic CC weapon. in KT, you want two different gunners (plasma and one of melta or GL) and a sharpshooter; in 40K you want to of the same gunner (probably plasma, maybe sniper) and one different one (sniper or maybe GL).

also the evil commissar and ogryn are useless in 40K

I had a lot of fun painting up 10 traitor guard for my CSM army but it was kinda lame that to follow wysiwyg I had to basically forgo all the cool specialist weapons and just slap a lasgun in most of their hands. I'll probably buy another box to make the actual Kill Team

Yeah I could have done that and probably will if I get a second box and ever run them in regular 40k. I don't hate the look of the lasgun poses so that's at least a plus, definitely looks kinda cool to just have a whole bunch of guys with guns running forward. And the specialist bits made for great conversions for some of the other stuff I've worked on since then. I also want to get the Beast Men box, fingers crossed a Lost and Damned list is one day possible.

Buy a cheap photo frame and yoink the backboard?

e: 8x10 is a common size and the backing is usually about that thick mdf like stuff, though if on the cheaper end it might not be, and you'll have to tear off the stand. If you're passing by a framer ask if they have any broken or ones that were discarded. We had heaps of frame backs especially in bigger sizes, they were discarded occasionally for custom jobs and we built up a huge supply.
