somebody pointed out that shows are now called content and i feel like that explains it pretty well. it's not so much about presenting any big meaningful story but throwing out some loosely relatable characters to make the viewer comfortably invested and wanting to spend more time watching them. movies dont even have endings anymore you gotta come back next year to see your screen friends continue their slow adventures. a lot of it is probably the money people being in charge and wanting more things to sell but also there are just too many people involved to make good stuff. computers and cameras are too powerful and the people using them are greedy with all the changes they can make after recording their acting parts. instead of like using a 1$ candle to light up a scene in a dark room they'll use their fancy lights and say "oh we'll make the rest of the room dark later" and then the guy who's supposed to do the room darkening special effects doesn't get that information or somebody else says "no that's too dark" so instead of seeing a persons face half lit up by a candle you just get a sort of grayish room with a person in it. and then maybe the story didn't actually even need that scene but they already did all that work so may as well leave it in there.

Killers of the Flower Moon was 3.5 hours long so as far as I'm concerned it's a tiny miracle that it was able to play in theaters and do pretty well for itself, since once you get beyond 3 hours theaters are gonna start to balk at that unless it's a mega popular franchise.

There's this trend of vague anti-wealthy, eat the rich, wow aren't rich people hosed up, horror movies and they all suck loving rear end and have nothing to say. Pure vapid nonsense. Infinity Pool, The Menu, Glass Onion, etc. Western cinema is trying to ape Parasite and failing miserably at it.
