I wasn’t really paying attention to all the parts I was disassembling and stashing, I randomly realized I had enough parts to finally repair the Saiga I was totally going to repair but forgot about. Repaired it and hot drat, I am an idiot for playing without one. I gunned down a group of 5 loners, 4 of them dropped various revisions of sunrise suits, disassembled the 3 worst ones and repaired the other, now I finally have a good disguise. Things are looking up, time to go see if I can get some work from Sid. Shame I gunned down the whole rookie village a while go.

I've installed Gamma after seeing some vids and it seems right up my street, just running into an issue where the AI is absolutely destroying me through bushes. I know there's a mod in there you can select that effectively makes bushes walls to the AI but that apparently just breaks them and makes it too easy. Is there another mod out there that tries to tackle this? The Clear Sky start in the swamps is a bit of a nightmare with all the foliage.

Anomaly Gamma update: Finished X16 lab and killed the thing.. not sure if there was another option. Went through 400 rounds of .45 Hydroshock which was a bit much maybe.. I can't seem to find out what to do with these though:

Yeah it's a wonderful source of stuff if you know it's coming. I remember how nasty it was in my first Shadow of Chernobyl playthrough so very long ago, but knowing it's there takes some of the sting out. Still can't help but remember how caught out in the open I was the first time though. Last time I played GAMMA I had an SVU by the time I made it there (was only an army repair kit, at the time) which really let me turn the tables on that ambush.

I started with a 1911 because I thought it would be cool. Absolutely terrible choice. 7 round capacity is not enough for a combat pistol in the modern day. Got a bit kitted out now at least, got a bizon which continues to be top tier bandit killer, got the LAM and a supressor and a kobra on top, and you can even do the cool holding your gun sideways to use the LAM as an aim point now. Also got a REX with a red dot integrated and that thing still rules. But .357 is hella expensive now. Which is fair because it's amazing but I can feel the roubles leaving my wallet with each round. Speaking of overpriced, I got a mauser. Who the gently caress designed the ammo for this thing? I know I shouldn't be surprised given the game but why is soviet 7N14 better than the actual AP ammo for the mauser in every respect? You can't even loving one shot a zombie with the mauser, this thing sucks poo poo, I wish I started with the mosin cos I can't find anything that shoots 7.62 russian. I have an SKS but the AK rounds aren't great for sniping and it kicks like a horse. Plus I don't enormously like the PU scope. I did, however, find a winchester. Which absolutely rules except why is it a type C? It's a loving lever action from the 1800s, why does it need the same toolkit as a modern military rifle? I am hoping I can find an original tommy gun with the drum mag and the compensator, then roll around with that and the winchester. Is your barrel trashed? I used a Mauser as an early game sniper and had good luck with it - it should easily 1 shot a zombie or dog to the head and most stalkers with AP ammo.

Stalker hold your gun like a normal person challege (impossible) It's probably my biggest complaint with the models, some of them are just absolutely ridiculous, how are you supposed to use it like that, you can't see the right side of the screen.
