I get it, it's pure racism at the core for a lot of those voters, but framing it any other way for the weirdos in them middle doesn't seem doable anymore. I've had to suffer through an official Trump ad (proximity to NH) and it's about the SCARY BORDER and Fentanyl deaths are heavily implied to be caused by that OPEN BORDER

It’s a zero sum game for them, ironically for people who claim to create wealth. The 1% benefits from crashing the economy. Yes, their assets would lose value, but so would everyone else's. If stock and real estate prices crash, the super wealthy are the only ones with the resources to buy stock and real estate, taking advantage of the low prices. When the economy finally improves they've consolidated more of the nations wealth. Look at wealth distribution before and after other crashes, the rich come out richer and everyone else comes out poorer. This is in addition to the idea that it will help Republicans electorally, who will then lower their taxes, because for some reason people think Republicans are better on the economy. I don't know what power they have to affect the economy but if they can they will try.

Yeah corporations are still seeing how much money they can squeeze out of consumers by jacking up prices and complaining about how nobody wants to for $10 an hour. A great example is Wendy’s. During the pandemic they got rid of their 4 for $4 deal (burger, nugs, fries, drink) and raised it to $5. Then when I went by last week I noticed that they’d raised it again to $6.
