I decided to start off the new year by painting a big batch of IG infantry. I had some painted heavy and special weapons left over from when I amalgamated the IG combat patrol, so I decided to paint up a dozen or so lasgun dudes to make up a pair of infantry squads. I also painted an autocannon heavy weapons squad to round out the platoon. (I miss platoons :( )

The finished platoon consists of a platoon command squad, two shock trooper squads, two infantry squads and a heavy weapons squad. They form the close security for my artillery battery of two towed Earthshaker guns and a pair of field ordnance guns.

The new guys (along with previously mentioned specialist weapons and commissar)

Combat Patrol

The Earthshakers (and the original infantry platoon setup, now changed to above)

If I want to go full "realism", I guess the formation needs another three vehicles to pull the guns. I was thinking a pair of Centaurs and a Trojan, if I can find any for a reasonable price.

My need to make formations "complete" will ruin me :shepspends:

These rule so much! Where did the guns come from? I'm converting a soviet B4, looks similar, but yours looks way more 40k.

Yes, we have feathers--but the muscles of men.

That says the most you can slot on as a 2000 point army is 2 squads and 2 characters.

They're just the left over cannon bits off a pair of Basilisks that I assembled into Chimeras instead (they used to cost pretty much the same, but Basilisks came with the extra cannon sprues). I got the track units from Victoria miniatures and built the rest out of plasticard and cut down dozer blades.

I tried to make the whole mess look as close to a B4 as I could without any major rework of the Earthshaker guns themselves. I'm glad that came through. :)

This page was pretty useful for reference, some guy made a really detailed 3d model of the B4:

They can eat pretty much trash and can withstand all sorts of temperature. They look a little mean but once you lobotomise them theyre a lot more docile. Apparently they taste pretty good.

I found a gigantic thing that kind of looks like a Star Wars sandcrawler at Goodwill, but the back is busted open & missing, on top it's got a massive turret that's half destroyed along with a few sponson-like holes. It's $4.

Quick what vehicle in 40k looks like a sandcrawler? I'd like to justify this lol

The main difference is the bottom on the thing I found is just one track.
