Bloodsport begins with a montage showing tournament staff setting up the location for the kumite. The whole sequence struck me as weirdly cute. I think it's because the expectation for a legendary underground fighting tournament is for it all to be presented all shrouded in mystery and whatnot. Instead you get guys pushing brooms and checking the decorative lighting.

american tv or film often has the protagonist leave their house with a coffee in their special cup, then put it in the cup holder and drive to work but why are they not staying home to finish their coffee before they leave? a) its way more comfortable and b) you dont have a cup in your car that you gotta lug back in

That sounds more like an Irrationally Irritating Movie Moment than a Subtle Movie Moment. I got enough time in the morning to enjoy my coffee at home, but sometimes I don't get up early enough so I have to drink it on the go. Maybe they're habitually late and just drink (coffee) & drive?

They are on the go, they're dynamic! Deals to be done, family to be fed, bad guys to be killed. They got no time for leisure or enjoying things, coffee is fuel and the car is a second home anyway which with the two hour commute it had better be.

Cup of coffee and hanging out waking up with the family and having breakfast, sippable cup in the cup holder of the car for the commute to work. Especially in the winter. One of my chores was to clean empty cups from the car for cleaning.
