I wonder if part of keeping Allen is they know they'd be at the bottom of most coaches lists due to the salary cap situation there. New coaches like to bring in new players. The Saints just don't have the cap dollars to make it happen and they're stuck with this roster. Not exactly what a HC would be looking for, especially with 8 other jobs available.

I’d like to think they know they need a caretaker coach while they sort out the roster but in my heart I know they’re going to sign like 100M in new contracts for FAs and pretend that this year is really the year Dennis figures it out and goes all the way (beats Todd Bowles and wins the division at 7-10).
