Kind of a funny draft. Other than juryo, every rank set had an obvious banner choice. Kirishima, Kotonowaka, Atamifuji, Asanoyama, Onosato were all in high demand (especially my boy Kotonowaka, with fully 42 people having him as their first pick). Juryo was pretty widely-dispersed, which makes sense since there are 28 guys in the set, but it was pretty even, so it should be a solid tie-breaker. Can't wait to see how this works!

Just caught up with the first day on the NHK website. I really don't know why I picked Abi for my fantasy stable, looking at his previous tournament result, but I relied mainly on who stuck in my memory rather than poring over results. Convincing win over him for Kotonowaka, who happily is also one of my picks.

First time watching Terunofuji in a tournament - he completely manhandled Ura, haha. I wanted Kirishima as my top level pick, based on November, but having the Yokozuna and seeing him dominate was pretty nice. Go Terunofuji!

It's cool having more sumo to watch and clearly November wasn't a one-off for me.

Question on highlights: I like the NHK ones - they show all the Makuuchi bouts, have English commentary, and half an hour is a nicely digestible length. Only problem is, they don't go up until the next day so I'm not able to keep up with discussion in the thread. I know some goons are watching live, but are there any good alternatives for highlights comparable to NHK's, that go up a little earlier?

Unfortunately NHk/JSA started to play whackamole on sumo match content awhile back so any answers you get today may not work tomorrow.

But given that, the main digest guys are Kintamayama and Natt sumo. kinta is on yt, but I think its easier to go to his twitter and see where today's post in case he's moved again. He grabs the English commentary and just had subtitles for who's fighting and the results.

Nattosumo does more production with match graphics and stuff. Not sure where he is now.

Rumble is the main site his stuff is uploaded too unfortunately, but there's mirrors on other random video upload sites - joining his discord is the best way to get the links, I keep it muted and buried in a folder.

Natto Sumo still tries to upload to Youtube daily, you just have to get there early as they’re usually taken down by midafternoon EST. Getting a Rumble link through the Natto Discord is easiest in my experience

Yeah, I've seen natto stuff occasionallyon YT under various names if I'm searching for something in the morning, but there's no point in posting the channel/link.

Cool stuff from Day 2:

Teru/Waka: Interesting long match. Teru looking solid, but not dominant. Being out for so long has got to be tough on conditioning for longer matches. He might need to switch focus from yusho to gatekeeping Kiri and the Sekiwake looking for Ozeki runs.

Takakeisho/Atamifuji:Kid held his own, Taka with the second effort win for a change. Not sure if that's a good thing for his conditioning or a bad sign that he can't overpower people though.

Kotonowaka/Gonoyama not much to say but a pretty sweet throw. Kid's gotta start to practicing to answer to grandpa's name as he's going to get to Ozeki sooner than later if he keeps it up.

Hokuseiho/Meisei:Hokuseiho is getting up there for least favourite dude to watch. Even if he keeps beating the lower ranks, he's going to get eaten alive as he moves up against guys who are strong enough to move him.

Kotoshoho/Onosato:Onosato showing his prospect status. Early, but he's looking more like Atamifuji/Gonoyama than Hokuseiho in that he might be up in joi sooner than later. Also the no topknot run is cool while it lasts.

Thanks for that. Managed to find them both on Twitter; Nattosumo has a link to his channel but the page is taken down. Kintamayama's has videos of around 15 minutes, which is less than NHK, so clearly not all of the Makuuchi bouts, but pretty decent I guess. I do like to watch all of them, though, so I might stick with NHK and just being behind.

Are goons mostly either watching live somehow or following one of these two? How would I go about live watching in an official, non-rules-breaking sort of way?

I do like to watch all of them, though, so I might stick with NHK and just being behind.

Are goons mostly either watching live somehow or following one of these two? How would I go about live watching in an official, non-rules-breaking sort of way?

Kinta does all the matches. He cuts everything right to the actual fight and maybe one replay so you miss the intros and any pre/post match analysis but the actual fights are there. Well, sometimes he makes some cuts for boring Hokuseiho poo poo, like cutting the middle 5 seconds of a 15 second resthold.

Those two are the go to guys unless someone's stepped up in the chaos that I've missed. The NHK digest is the most rules following way of watching in English outside of Japan.
