Yeah if you’ve found yourself in a place where happiness and satisfaction in a hobby is dependent on winning it all then that’s a recipe to unhappiness. And probably isn’t really about the sports.

That’s true. I switched to gambling and found it much more fulfilling then waiting for the Phillies to be good

He should be in the Cubs HOF. Top 5 Cub for me

The Cubs really made his career by getting him out of Baltimore. My guess is that most people would see that there was something special there.
We also have a special affection for guys who didn't give up any game tying home runs in game 7 of the 2016 world series.

The two most memorable things Pedro Strop did as a Cub:

1. High-stepping alongside Kris Bryant on his walk-off vs the Indians in 2015.

2. Getting eviscerated by Bob Costas for having a bad outing.

I’ve said it before but it’s worth saying again. I regret a lot of my posting last season and a lot of it was really about what was happening in my life and with me and how unhealthily I was engaging with all the parts of baseball and fandoms that upset me. Not being able to disengage from that and just letting it make me feel worse and worse was 100% about all kinds of other poo poo going on.

Sports should be a nice hobby. When they become something more it gets messy.

Well, now I know why Stassi was on the IL for most of the season. Glad to hear good news.

https://theathletic.com/5197090/2024/01/12/max-stassi-son-premature-birth/

His son was born 18 weeks early. His wife's water broke at 21 weeks and 6 days so it was tense whether or not the birth would be delayed long enough for viability. She gave birth four weeks later and his son spent the next several in a Chicago hospital.

I know the point of this poo poo is to stir up discussion, but his hall of fame would have maybe 5 people in it. The only remotely defensible reason to not have Beltre on your ballot is that you had 11 people you wanted to vote for and knew he'd get in anyway.

Even humoring the argument that Beltre was more ho-hum longevity vs “must watch,” his 7-year peak is 5 WAR above the average third baseman HoFer.

bawfuls

The guy is straight up delusional as to Beltre’s actual production. In his column he said Beltre was worse than Jeter, Ortiz, Rivera, Manny, and Halladay.

Everything he says about it is nonsense because he is arguing about a fictional, shittier player that only exists in his head.

And his actual ballot is just Manny and A-Rod. Both deserving by miles to me, but not what I'd expect from someone excluding Beltre for such an idiotic reason.

like I said, he’s reacting to a fictional player in his head not the real life Adrian Beltre

I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s mixed up Beltre and like Elvis Andrus in his head or something.
