even though TRUMP!, i still gotta believe in my heart of hearts is that the most likely election outcome is that because the dog caught the car with roe v. wade, women will be out in droves to vote for not-Trump and Biden will fuckin sail to re-election. i think female voter participation has a real chance to be way higher than it has ever been. it was at 68.4% in 2020. the largest jumps in participation were between 88-92 (+4.9%), 00-04 (+4.7%) and 16-20 (+5.1%).

i really think 20-24 could go +7% because of roe v. wade.

As has been mentioned repeatedly, in the popular vote Trump has about as much chance as the proverbial one legged man in an rear end kicking contest.

But that's not how U.S Elections work. Biden CAN, through ratfucking in the exact right places, compounded by possible mistakes and bad luck, lose the election. Because he didn't beat Trump by 7 million votes, he beat him by less than 50,000. And we honestly don't know if the ratfucking attempts will be better this time, so we get concerned. I don't know how much lots of angry left leaning (or just in general) woman can chop away at that, instead of just adding more to the near pointless popular vote.

Yeah these people are beyond saving and not worth reasoning with. They are morons who derive emotional support and satisfaction from Trump because he’s a bully and they like feeling powerful and spiteful without repercussions. That’s also why they hate any kind of limitation or slight rebuke on Trump; it cuts right to the heart of their power fantasy and feels like an attack on them. There’s a reason these guys all look like greasy, unlovable fat fuxks: they are. That’s why they’ve latched onto the Uber Useless Brokebrain Narcissist as their spirit animal. If you ever get them drunk and talk politics it all degenerates into the talking points of right wing facebook memes: Kamala Harris only got there by sleeping her way to the top; Michelle Obama is a man; Obama is gay; Biden is braindead/bought by china. It doesn’t make sense but it’s how they conceive of the world and they can justify feeling better about themselves because the bad guys “hate America” and they don’t.

The reason I’m not a doomer about it is because I think they only make up like 30-40% of the population.

Recently I saw a book- maybe twenty years old- by Laura Ingraham and when i opened it up it started with telling the reader that liberals were laughing at them and mocking them for being patriotic and Christian. There's an element of truth in that liberals were laughing at conservatives. but really we were laughing because conservatives were assholes.

Anyway, Bill O'Reilly, who supports Florida book ban laws, is outraged after his own books come under review

quote:

Former longtime Fox News host Bill O'Reilly is outraged after Florida's book ban laws — which he has vehemently supported —have now called his own books into question for review.

He said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that a Florida county has removed his books "Killing Jesus" and "Killing Reagan" from it schools.

"Preposterous!" O'Reilly said in the post. "We are investigating and are seeking comment from @GovRonDeSantis. This will not stand."

O'Reilly's books were included in a list of 1,000 books that were temporarily removed in Escambia County pending an investigation of their material under state law, according to Newsweek.

Conservatives in Florida have been waging a campaign to remove ideas that they disagree with from public schools. In recent years, Florida has passed laws banning the teaching of critical race theory and passed sweeping book bans that critics say focus on books containing LGBTQ+ topics and those by LGBTQ+ authors.

Before Friday, O'Reilly had been a staunch supporter of these laws.

"When DeSantis signed the book law, I supported the theme because there was abuse going on in Florida," he told Newsweek. "There were far-left progressive people trying to impose an agenda on children, there's no doubt about it."

O'Reilly went on to say that he now thinks the wording in the book ban laws is "far too nebulous" and that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis should publicly declare it "insane" that O'Reilly's books have been removed.

O'Reilly said he still believes some books should be banned from schools, but the law should be adjusted.

"I want to emphasize the fact that there are abuses in certain school districts that harm children. There are materials that are inappropriate and those materials have to be specifically included in the law with language that is very specific," O'Reilly told Newsweek. "You can't be throwing John Grisham under the bus, it's absurd."

O'Reilly also vowed to find out specifically who in the school district removed the books and "put their pictures up on television and on my website," according to Newsweek.

O'Reilly hosted "The O'Reilly Factor" on Fox News for more than 20 years before leaving the network. He left Fox News in 2017 after he and the network reportedly paid out $13 million in settlements to women who had accused him of sexual harassment. O'Reilly has denied the women's allegations.

Between this, and Hunter walking out of the hearing in disgust about MTG, and Fox presenting it as "Hunter flees from MTG!", I am again reminded that the nature of information is 10 percent will always support your side, 10 percent will always support the other side, and the remaining 80 percent goes to who can present, twist, misrepresent, and whatnot it the best. It's just gotten worse the last decade and change because people have realized that many times, people will just take things at face value, no matter what, and they've stopped devoting any effort to the altering, just adding to their volume and repetition instead,

Also speaking of 'absorbed information' and 20 year old and onward stuff, several dozen pages back or so, when people were talking about how stuff like The Daily Show and South Park didn't realize that they were seeding the future we find ourselves in, what with 'They mocked instead of harshly critisized" and "They fed the idea into who knows how many heads that everything was the same, everything was equally stupid, and hence a snowball to the head is the same as getting crushed by an avalanche' and so on.

I'm pretty sure if you went back in time and tried to warn the people behind the shows that these things could happen, I suspect you'd get the same answer: we're a comedy show. The South park guys would, if you could break through the nonsense they'd probably respond with, likely say "We are doing whatever immature poo poo comes into our heads tied with real world events. We are not here to educate or teach people how to think or live their lives. We don't know how, we don't want to, and expecting us to is stupid. And if people are learning the lesson that Cartman's viewpoint is something to be emulated, then in all honesty those people are so weak and stupid that if South Park didn't exist, they'd just get brainwormed by something else."

Really, I do feel it's that. If there had been no Daily Show or works by Trey and Matt, most of the shitheads would just have found a new source of feces. There's not exactly a lot unique or special about those shows that helped make the alt right and MAGA. They're just the particular poison that found a shape to pour into that probably would have existed, and been filled, anyway.

Old people don't understand technology. Any time something electronic does something they don't immediately understand, they get all pissed off at it and accuse it of cheating, breaking, "it just started downloading porn viruses!!", being manufactured incorrectly, etc etc. Trust me, I have an old dad and he's constantly all upset on the phone with me about how his laptop "just decided to" break and now he can't read his email anymore and Dell makes garbage laptops blah blah. And I have to tell him nooooo, actually YOU did this and this and made it do that. Trust me, over 2 decades in tech support cemented into my soul that old people just get mad at their own ignorance when it comes to tech.

Trump honestly believes things like how workers could simply feed the same ballot through machines 20 times per Democrat voter but only once per Republican voter's ballot and that that would amount to 20 votes being actually counted for the Democrat. YOU CANNOT explain this to the olds, btw. You can't. They willfully refuse to understand new, complex ideas and get increasingly angrier as you try to explain how they're being really emotionally reactive and dumb about their OWN. IGNORANCE.

Ugh... off topic but ol' dad has recently gotten all into those videos of guys in trucks who like get pulled over and get argumentative with the cops and refuse to obey any orders. The "You aren't allowed to pull me over for speeding! That is illegal! I ain't showing you my license because I don't need to. I know my rights!" types and he thinks they're just great. I think he was explaining this all to me because he knows how ACAB I am but it's like... they're such stupid, stupid, cringe-inducing morons and I bring this up because those types of guys are allllllllllllllllll chuds. There is no Yale professor emeritus of English yelling out his truck window about how he's not going to comply ever, ever. All chuds, all day. And now he's hooked.
