I’ll forever remember Dennis Miller as the worst thing I’ve ever seen on MNF.

Damn it, this always happens. I think I'm gonna score, and then I never score. It's not fair.

do you not remember Jason Witten?

The irony being both announcers had some all time games. The Dennis Miller years included the Monday Night Miracle and the Antonio Freeman "He did what?!" games a few weeks apart, the Witten year had the amazing 54-51 Rams-Chiefs game.

Now imagine a Miller / Witten commentary booth.

Dan Deirdorf lasted forever making me want to throw things at the TV, at least Miller went away quickly.

It's also funny looking it up that Eric Dickerson's disastrous sideline reporter career overlapped Miller's exactly.

He was...somewhat sane back then and just riffing and I don't care about announcers. To me that era of Dennis Miller was fine Dennis Miller.

What came later, well, not so much.

Concur. I don't want the modern version of him at all.

I'm glad that commentary is just a little more relaxed these days and the younger crowd are less robotic and trite. But I come from the UK where in the middle of a match you get a review on the quality of meat pies available at the stadium.

Kenny Pickett is 100%, unequivocally worse.

Rudolph isn’t great but he’s decent backup material. Pickett (and Mitch) shouldn’t be in the NFL.

my favorite old people commentary was a phillies game in the early 2010s where sarge and chris wheeler just forgot a game was happening and started talking about different kinds of interesting bridges for a half hour
