Actually they (media) do this with headlines a lot to see which version gets more clicks and ad views. Initially they show headline A to some people and headline B to others, and after a few hours the more effective one is shown to all audience. I hate it. e: although this seems to be tweets instead of alternative headlines in the online magazine, but what I described is also a real thing and I still hate it

I like when news outlets change the headline but not the URL so you can still see the original headline if you just... look slightly up. I can't think of a notable one other than right wing grift TPUSA changing a headline to be less inflammatory about Biden not immediately "closing the border," but the article was still garbage so 🤷 headline change didn't fix poo poo.
