When I was getting my masters I used to have a membership at a coworking space and there was an extremely poorly designed slide that had a rather steep slope and a hard flat angle at the bottom. It was basically a machine to compress spines. No matter how many signs they put up, or how much caution tape was there on it, people would still attempt the dang thing. I must have watched 20 full grown adults learn valuable lessons on that thing.

Something about a slide is just irritable to 2% of the population.

tbf getting your spine compressed does sound like it would be irritating

Note also that the slide had warning signs on it which he ignored

Also note they barricaded the bottom. But not the top where people actually go to get on the slide.

So you've never grabbed a piece of cardboard and tried to keep all your appendages away from the edge of the slide, I see.

There's a bunch around the SF Bay Area. A list of some (not sure why this blog entry is labelled as fiction, I was subjected to at least three of these slides as a child): https://airlightmagazine.org/airlight/issue-4/the-concrete-slides-of-northern-california/

What are you talking about? I'm literally a permit in IATSE 873.

I don't do much of that work anymore, but several of my friends have been full-fledged members for over a decade. We have ACTRA, the ICG and the DGC also.

Not really. All of my IA friends did lose a fair bit of work over the strike but they'd been paid handsomely for years so they had nest eggs and other work to fall back on.

And either way, I'm not sure what any of this has to do with filming locations.

No worries pal. I just thought it was a weird assertion.

Anyway a TON of film & TV you enjoy is shot here. What We Do In The Shadows, The Boys, Suits, The Handmaid's Tale, all recent or currently underway productions I can point out Toronto landmarks like sore thumbs. Way too many movies to list any. I just binged The Expanse and it's wild how everything not clearly on a soundstage is very recognizable.

And what sci-fi isn't shot here is shot out in the Vancouver area, since that place has the precisely two biomes that exist elsewhere in the universe: verdant forest, and gravel quarry.

Why would they shoot a show about Wellington city across the globe? Furthermore, why would they do it when the NZ film industry is known to be exploitative for local workers?

The shaden is that the answer to the first question is that welly's not even good enough to portray itself, ho ho ho.
