You should not be able to be elected to any position in municipal, provincial, or federal governments if you are a landlord. Being a landlord inherently creates a conflict of interest in doing anything for the good of the people. I'm also willing to consider barring anyone who owns a business or has more than 20 people below them in the corporate hierarchy.

There should be a minimum amount of total property value you have to own to be eligible for a given office, an amount which increases as the office-holder is promoted. That way the personal interests of those governing Canada will best align with the interests of the state and the people as a whole
