Queue 40,000: Pre-Orders Rising I was there, the day customers slew the queue. I was present when GW abandoned the love of retail for the lies preorders. I was there as the web site was corrupted from within.

The second wasn't as good as the first, I couldn't handle the constantly crying tree lady, but Gotrek and Maleneth were still great. Yeah I think there is just Realmslayer and then the second one which I've forgotten about. One of them does have the Nurgling Knight too, but also had the issue of making the Sylvaneth voices too muddled to be able to understand them. Unless that was another AoS audiobook I've listened to, remember it being an issue with the Idoneth book at least.

Bohemian Nights posted:I really feel for everyone who aren't able to complete their collection, but boy am I glad I get to buy it from audible and not the GW webstore I buy from the webstore but I just buy the ebook. The webstore still sucks because as far as I have been able to tell there's no way to have it only show you books in a language you want, you have to browse through all the languages available. But they don't have lovely DRM on their ebooks like Amazon does so whatever I'll deal with it. Also it does lead to the occasional amusing thing.

D-Pad posted:The issue is most people have no idea of how advanced the bots are. What you suggest won't work because the botting providers have virtual credit card services. For $20/month I can generate as many card numbers as I want and even have unique names/addresses tied to each. Limiting purchases to in-store terminals would help. For a big release like this it's not like it won't sell out anyway.

It's an option but it would gently caress a ton of people who don't live near the store. Also resellers already go to retail release dragging all their friends and family so they can get multiple copies so it wouldn't stop it completely. I did a really deep dive into the communities and bots back during covid when I was trying to get a GPU and I came to the conclusion that there is no way to stop it altogether and I've never once seen a proposal that would actually work. Hell congress made it illegal to bot concert tickets with big penalties and it didn't slow it down hardly at all.

Exactly, you want to let the true fans through and keep out the scalpers.

The actual way to keep scalpers out is to have an auction. You're gonna select for "how much money are you willing to pay for this book", which privileges rich fans over poor fans. But any other form of sale boils down to " how many hoops are you willing to jump through to get this book ", and neither kind of fan will beat the scalpers at that. Alternatively, since they don't care about making a lot of money from LEs (an auction would maximise that, too), they could offer them as prizes for tournament winners at official GW stores. That's a hoop that scalpers will not want to bother with.

Do we know when the e-book is being released if ordered on the Black Library website? Midnight UK time? Or when it is released if we ordered from Amazon?

Available to DL from Black Library’s website now in the UK.

They need to make the books fuckable so nobody will buy a second-hand one. Then the market drops off and order is restored. Like the dune popcorn buckets.

Amazon releases at 12am EST, well technically...sometimes it comes a little early or a little later. BL site I am not sure but I think Amazon is usually first.

So now that the last book is officially out, I should probably get around to finally reading the series I know there's a big chart out there for a general reading order after the first 4-5 books, but is there a list of required reading vs skip vs read if you like that legion?

I was there. I was there, the day What a book, what a book It's such a shame that it relies so heavily on the audience being well immersed in the Warhammer setting and all the previous stories that it builds on, and therefore isn't something an unfamiliar reader can just pick up and read and get full satisfaction out of, because this book is a masterpiece that deserves a wider audience than it will get.
