Hiring Rhule is by far Tepper's riskiest move and there were certainly skeptics, but there really was also a measure of hype. With Tepper being a big dick hedge fund gazillionaire and Rhule having rescued two absolutely moribund college programs, a lot of pundits saw it as an intriguing high risk, high reward scenario that was operating from a fresh perspective compared to the NFL norm. Turns out some NFL norms very much exist for a reason, but yeah, that hire was not universally panned when it happened.

Morris isn’t a super exciting hire given his history but he’s been getting buzz for a while and seems like a popular pick with insiders, so maybe it works out. He’s a retread but at least one that’s had content of time to learn from his mistakes.

Allen sucked way worse than Raheem as a coach, and in a better situation. I also don’t really recall anyone going to bat for him the second time around, he was just the default choice because the Saints were too lazy to seriously look outside of the building.
