I've also seen some recent speculation that the Tropicana site is just too small to build a ballpark on, and they may have to start completely over since the legislation passed last year was explicitly for that site. What an absolute disaster. MLB should just seize the loving franchise from Fisher.

Braves legitimately have very little in the way of position player prospects, other than the international draftees working through the low minors. Barring an injury setback Waldrep should hit pretty high on the pitching lists but he’ll also probably hit the majors this year.

The A’s have graduated a lot of guys and they have also made a lot of bad trades and not drafted great. Looking at their top 10, Mason Miller is still on there because despite getting promoted he blew his arm out and didn’t pitch long enough to actually lose prospect status. Jacob Wilson is their #1 prospect, but he’s a light hitting contact shortstop in the vein of like Nick Madrigal. So if that’s your top guy, your system looks kind of lovely.

What's even more important than absolute profitability is disciplining municipalities into publicly funding baseball owners. Hence Fisher's choice to take a worse deal from Vegas and MLB's support of that choice. The right of MLB owners to extract public funds on demand is sacrosanct and baseball is willing to take lower short term profits in order to protect that right. No one does class solidarity like billionaires.

How is that even possible at this point? from that 2021 team that had like, 5 theoretical "hey this should get us a decent return guys" the trades have basically given back a bunch of prospects who have since been released, a bunch of mostly young pitchers who are still hanging around but have lost almost all the prospect shine they ever had, Shea Langeliers who looks like a decent catcher who can't hit a lick, Esteury Ruiz who has negative power, and idk Luis Medina only kinda looked bad as a major league starter this season? It was a bad case of selling the farm and getting mostly magic beans in return

It is just brutally unfair to Oakland fans, but the billionaire class obviously doesn't give a poo poo. Cuban just sold most of his share of the Mavericks to billionaire casino owners, so I can't wait for the immenent poo poo show for the next Stars/Mavs arena. The state of the A's farm system makes it extra hopeless too. Maybe all the magic beans they've picked up in the last couple years are too far away to get the attention of lazy mlb.com writers, but poo poo seems bleak.
