They’re born white and develop colored hairs and undercoat. As adults cattle dogs should have a solid colored undercoat and a mix of colored and white guard hairs. This is my red ACD who is also ticked.

Cowdogs are so good, we had one growing up and she was whip smart and an absolute sweetheart. Not to anyone outside the family, mind, and I did catch her stealing most of a pizza off of the coffee table once, but she was otherwise perfect.
