I had one of those days in the garage where I took a reciprocating saw to a screw. The first four much more reasonable approaches didn't work, but that sure did.

NEXT DAY EDIT: Followed that up with a day where everything went just as it should have and made lots of progress. Garage balance has been restored.

I don’t have it handy, but inset the meme about escalating fastener removal ending with “ can’t be right if it’s liquid” here.

I put Covercraft seat covers in the Outback to fix the deteriorating factory leather - I’ll post about that in my personal thread later. Pretty good covers - about as well as can be expected for slip on covers versus actual upholstery.
I also checked out the power steering o-ring as suggested, and it was definitely not rubber any more, so here’s hoping.

This is on my list for the “next house” as well, mostly so I can install and use a lift or two. I’m very tired of crawling under cars. A separate shop would be ideal.

Next house is going to be yet another rental. My wife will start her first real deal doctor job this summer so we're going to rent for another year in that area, and if she doesn't hate the facility then we'll start home shopping in earnest. A lift and a separate shop would be amazing.

Work temporarily suspended this afternoon because my son fell asleep on my arm. :3:

I hate that style of door myself, because they steal so much room on the inside that would've been prime real-estate for high cabinets or shelves.

I think we have the same style of ramps.

Also having a big enough outdoor slab to park the car on and work outside in summer is also nice.

I've got a decent outdoor slab, but it's been raining. I wanted to nose into the garage to stay dry.

I think those ramps are actually underrated for my car. I think they say 1 ton on the sticker -- if that's 1 ton for the pair, the front end of the cayenne is probably 1.5 tonnes. I didn't need to get under the truck so it wasn't too terrible.

your point makes sense to me. obviously you cant compare the situations that caused their individual exits from this community, but in both cases throughout their posting careers i remember having this feeling of "man i can't believe everything constantly goes so wrong in this person's life." like it seems unreal that someone can have that much bad luck, that frequently. well, it turned out in the previous case that it was due to some combination of that person's self destructive behavior, and their choice of recreational substances. the causes might be different in this case, but i am getting the impression that it might not all be just random bad luck. deja vu.

My nailgun is ready, how many walls are we allowed to replace on your garage before it's not the same garage anymore? Can we "repair" it by building a new one outside it and then tearing the old one down inside the new one?

Well don't you know I'm caught in a trap?

Hmm, I like that idea, but I think building a whole new one at the end of my driveway near the house would be a better bet. Need to see if I can get a seperate service for it too.

I'm starting on the house again in March, my old tech who left to go be a GC gave me a quote I can't refuse for the upstairs, and he's willing to just let me do the parts I want to do to save cost, hopefully kitchen and downstairs bath next year, and the house'll be done and I can focus on fun projects like a new garage.

The floor near the toilet goes down about 1/2" when I walk on it right now, hopefully that doesn't somehow get worse.

E: I'm also working 5x12s + 1x8 for the foreseeable future, so I dunno how I'm going to keep the lawn mowed much less built anything.

I found out why my living room floor does that, only plywood where the old chimney was. This is the same spot where the audio stuff all sits and the reason I can't setup a turntable in there. : (

I'd love to have room inside the garage for that to happen, actually.
And my driveway has room for 4 cars, but has just enough of a slope to make heavy things on wheels want to kill you. Also has two non-op vehicles parked on it already.

Agree on the door - I'd really like a roll up "next house".
Disagree wildly on the "work outside in summer." You CLEARLY don't live in Texas. I'll take sweltering heat OUT of the sun versus in it, any day. 110F in the shade beats "feels like" 120 out in the sun.
