Sniping with another problem: I got my wife a widescreen curved monitor and she refuses to find the right drivers so she doesn't have the right resolution and it looks terrible much like my posting

tempted to think this is some incorrect-version-dp-cable thing because surely all display info has been over the wire and driver-free for 20 years by now?

Monitors don't need drivers. Maybe she doesn't have the right drivers for her graphics card and it's been running in 1080p fallback mode the whole time, but that was the proper resolution for the old monitor. Or something

how wide we talking here? is it stretching a 4:3 image to 16:9?

would be weird if a new monitor didn’t come with an acceptable cable, all the monitors I’ve bought within the last several years included hdmi and DisplayPort cables

I updated to Sonoma 14.3 and now Spotlight won't run. I see spotlight and corespotlightd in activity monitor using basically no resources, and when I try to launch Spotlight (cmd+space or clicking on magnifying glass) nothing happens.

Everything I find online has to do with bad indexing but not the thing itself not showing up

I am so owned... cmd+space is crucial to my life

It's definitely a profile issue because I created a brand new profile and spotlight loads fine. I guess I'll do the index rebuild thing

It was loading fine..... just not showing up on any monitor. Unplugged external monitor, did cmd+space, works great, then plugged the monitor back in and It Just Works.
