The opening verse has some light vibes of early 2ne1, and the marching band outfits look like something you'd get from like 2010 t-ara or something. Nothing like an obvious direct inspiration on either of them just a strong vibe to me. Songs short but didn't feel drastically short like Hwaa did even though the ending does a similar abrupt thing. The performance video has a 30 second ish intro before the song starts, which pushes it into a more normal length. Overall I like the song even if its not one of my top idle songs. The marching beats worked for the song imo, just isn't my taste.

The explicit call backs to 2nd gen songs as well as their previous eras visually and musically in the Idle song and mv are pretty genius. They jam packed a ton into that runtime, even if I wish every part of that song had a few more bars.

I would kill for a Minnie solo release. Especially with the tour version of Dahlia. She probably has my favorite voice in kpop and the music she writes fits it perfectly while still fitting in with Idle's discography.

Wow, the audio production on that is so much bigger than the first teaser suggested. That synth bass when the rest of the track drops out makes it sound massive. JYP has really stepped up their audio game recently, which was my biggest gripe with them for like 2 years despite all of their groups being my favorites.

their two best songs are the b-side to the new single (XO Call Me) and the new single (Girls of the Year) but I don't quite understand the big picture plan yet if they're not trying to go on Korean music shows? They only did one appearance for the pre-debut single. They're going to be based in LA, which makes sense for seeing their families, visa reasons, etc but it kinda just makes them an American group that's doing English songs produced in Korea (except when JYP uses non-Korean songwriters/producers)? which is less interesting to me

It’s a partnership with a US label and JYP, so I assume the former is pushing to try and capitalize on the kpop system and JYP personally wanting to do more globally for like a decade now. I agree though, not sure what their target audience is beyond international kpop fans?
