It has been successful for netflix so far and they increased their subscribers, so it's probably inevitable that all of the other services will do it too.

The question is will that work for all the other services, or are there some of them that people only think are worth subscribing to if they can share.

Bummer, been using a buddy's account for almost ten years. Guess it's time to finally pony up and deal with the mild inconvenience of typing in the first two letters of a different address to an illegal streaming site instead.

Zaslav needs franchises and Harry Potter stuff is a license to print money (generally, anyway, as I recall that last Fantastic Beasts movie underperformed pretty badly and killed that spin-off series). Can't exactly be shocked. (And, hell, WB has been begging JKR to let them do a movie adaptation of the Cursed Child play for years as a nostalgia legacy sequel.)

Oh, of that I have no doubt, especially if they can convince one or both of Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint to return, presumably with a dump truck full of cash. (Based on that reunion special from a few years back, and a lot of public comments over the past decade, Emma Watson seems to want to have absolutely nothing to do with JKR or the Harry Potter franchise again because of all the hell she went through and I certainly cannot say I blame her.)

Who's shocked? I get why it's happening, I just think it sucks to be giving the woman even more of a platform and that adapting those books is just kind of a dumb idea in a bunch of ways.

That cake bomb seemingly killed a lot of random staff but despite the door being open there were armed guys chasing J&J afterwards so there is something going on there.
Also, killing off Alexander Skarsgard before the opening credits is just showing off your Amazon megabucks, the whole cast is stacked as hell.

Yeah I really liked the first Mr. & Mrs. Smith episode. Not quite as comedy-focused as I expected, although still often very funny, and a lot of genuine heart. Will be binging that one over the next day or two.

Dr Chang's tween army side-plot, starting with an off the coffee deranged idea at a Bar Mitvah and ending somewhere around a Ken Burns mockumentary, is some of my favourite tv

I think(?) most thought it was the highlight of the show. But others really disliked it and thought that's where it went off the rails.

Jim Rash is just a better actor, so even within the parody version of the Dean he can find dimensions to play and keep the performance varied. Chang just ended up being really one note.

I haven't yet seen a full episode of the first or second season but loved the fifth and the chunk of the fourth I've gone through.

I've heard that the difference is that the two older daughters chill the gently caress out as they mature a few years and this lets Pamela Adlon turn it up a notch without veering into laugh-track territory.

Maybe after finishing 4 I'll start at the first but maybe not. To each their own, man

There's zero chance Dan Radcliffe does anything Harry Potter related if Rowling is in charge. When she went full mask off he released a fairly strongly worded letter about how he completely disagrees with her and that he is pro LGTBQ.

I cannot imagine Radcliffe wanting to return to Potter. His public statements on Rowling have been as clear as he can be about her without potentially harming his career, and every acting choice he’s made since Potter has been as far from any franchise as possible, and arguably as far from mainstream as possible.

ASK ME ABOUT BEING ALLERGIC TO POSITIVITY

There's way more chance of Watson coming back than Radcliffe, as she's basically said that Rowling is entitled to her opinions and pilling on her is wrong.

However I doubt any of the core three give a poo poo about coming back.

Chairman Capone
Dec 17, 2008

Watson also feels like the one of the three whose career has stalled the most, especially in recent years, at least taking into account that by the end of the Potter movies she was framed as the breakout of the three and the one poised to be the real ‘serious’ actor.

Obviously Grint has had the weakest career of the three but he also didn’t have the sort of expectations or ambitions of the other two, and even then he’s joined the Shyamalan stable.
