Seeing all these images and videos of people wearing the Vision Pro on the streets or in the metro reminds me so much of the fact that Apple is essentially a luxury lifestyle brand, they want to be seen wearing it, that's the main utility. The device doesn't even work while walking or in the train, the floating windoww aren't able to follow you!

People do dunk on Apple a lot in this thread, and they are steadily growing more monstrous as a mega corpo, but one thing they've always understood post Jobs' return is that if tech doesn't feel nice to use, hold, and look at, then it won't integrate into mainstream society in any serious way. I also think their new headset does look a lot less dumb than any of the competition. I mean it still looks like a headset. But their design sensibilities does give a lot of tech a sense of credibility that everyone else always seems incapable of doing. Maybe Google have got pretty good at it, although they've course corrected a little extreme to the 'we're your friends and this isn't technology' side of things.

Those rigs and 4K60 cameras are starting to reach the point where they're affordable for indie people on OnlyFans as well. This is cringier than anything I've seen with Google Glassholes and nerds with Quest. It's almost like Apple fans are somehow worse human beings? Why the gently caress would you bring that on public transit? Why would you go anywhere near poors with that? Try that poo poo on the orange line so we can stab you. very funny, but theres a thought thats bubbling up and im having trouble articulating with the entire concept that is making me hope this thing crashes and burns. since the windows are static whats the harm of just sticking an ad in your living room? you wont be looking at it most of the time anyway. every time you look at an apple it suggests several ways to buy more apples. you got rid of your tv because you live alone great now you have one less screen. look away from streaming ads? no way mister this just feels like a backdoor way to get us to start accepting intrusions like that. i might be particularly sensitive because i watched ads on the internet slowly go from mildly annoying banner ads to the nightmare we have today

Stupid Meta just scared me. The last time I used my Quest 2 was 48 hours ago, and when I shut down the device, I know it got an update because I heard the reboot noise some time after I had it shut down. Today, I put the headset and... wait, did I always had this much chromatic aberration? No, I didn't. I had the device for more that 2.5 years already, I know how it's supposed to look! Suddenly, my screen had more chromatic aberration, not on the center of the screen, but noticeable a few degrees from the center, and a exaggerated amount on the edges. I know the device hadn't an impact or a fall during the last two days, so I knew it had to be the software CW compensation. I was thinking already that Meta had broken the Quest 2 with the latest firmware update, but thanks go a simple reboot fixed it.
