It was probably a coincidence, but given how they add new lines and also add new contexts to use existing lines, I want to believe:

My zealot: "I AM THY JUDGMENT, HERETIC."

Scab Mauler: "I AM YOUR DEATH."

Man if they start tying reject and enemy lines together like that, that would be so hype.

There definitely have been call/response lines for enemies in the game for a while. Don't remember when people first started noticing but before the class overhaul you could hear shooters responding to callouts from the Rejects. Seems fairly rare or just really easy to miss in the noise of the game.

My favorite is still a reject doing an "All out of ammo!" voice line and if a dreg shooter hears it they bark "They're all outta ammo, gettem!"

You get to reroll 2 refinements or blessings. Meaning two refinements/blessings or one of each. Every blessing is available through mission completion rewards, melk's shop, or from consecrating weapons.

Some blessings only exist as a t3 version, normal shop items will only have t2 max, melk and emperors gifts can have t4, higher base item level = higher chance to get a better blessing when you upgrade an item. Usually the 360-380s will always get t3 or t4.

And yeah, all the blessings should appear via crafting.

If you have literally anything better than Falter (I) then you should change it out now, because when you get Dum Dum (IV) you can change it out again. I mean unless you're that materials constrained that you don't want to spend the currency/mats.

Also I don't know that weapon well enough but maybe consider Specialists swapped out for Flak instead of the maxed out Unyielding. I don't know the breakpoints though TBH.

It's really not great against unyielding enemies from what I've gathered, even when stacking talents to make unyielding enemies more manageable. I've got a power sword that's much better at dealing with monsters while this gun would be better suited to thinning out specialists and flak armored troopers from a distance.

Enjoy

If you are keeping Infernus you should give it +crit chance. Then you can also take crit related skills in your talent tree, like the free laser shots on crit

This is how I've built my crit laser dude, it works great, just keep shooting

what does "Backslash combo-starter, setting up the enemy for a killing blow." mean for the Turtolsky Mk IX Heavy Sword special attack? ive tried doing this build https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9a4fa304-0b88-4cf8-827a-d0435327a8c3/zealot-meta-no-stealth but its not working very good at all and definitely not as good as the guide says it should. it says it can one shot maulers with all the buffs but im getting momentum to max, using the dash buff and getting 5 stacks of the swords damage perks and its still taking 4 or 5 heavy attacks

using combat blade with a shroudfield build but not activating any buff does 700-1000 dps on a mauler compared to that heavy sword build that does about 500

Which Las weapons do get it? I'm certain I've seen it on a laspistol.

In that case I'm probably best going with Opening Salvo because if you time your shots right that's an extra 20% damage per shot.

Hmm, DumDum does appear to proc on the Accatran lasguns. Pair that with deathspitter and critical chance and that's a horde clearer.

As far as I know, all it means is that the special resets your combo so that your next attack can be the overhead heavy. So you can alternate special -> heavy -> special -> heavy for single targets.

I tried that build and was unimpressed. It's fine, but nothing special. Momentum is best on slow weapons, and the heavy sword is fast.

I had the same thoughts but that vote is very heavily upvoted :psyduck: It's not even as good as my heavy sword most support build.

It works great with Blazing Piety too: it's both fast and has top tier cleave so a single critical hit into a crowd will proc Invocation of Death like crazy.

But yeah if I were to gear up for a new heavy sword build I'd probably go with Martyrdom as well.

Really mostly depends on how far the respawn is from you, even a trio or duo can get screwed if you gotta cover a far distance lol.

eh, it's all the same because you either a) get overwhelmed by something your build doesn't deal with optimally (rager/crusher/bulwark/gunner patrols) or b) too many dogs/trappers at once.

Time is also a factor, the longer it takes you the nastier the director seems to get.

My point is if anyone clutches out a solo full team rescue they deserve the medal regardless of class imo

Ra Ra Rasputin
Apr 2, 2011
Psyker has an easy time rescuing people due to the dome and kinetic deflection letting them block any number of poxwalkers and ragers for minutes at a time while the dome stops all the worst ranged enemies that usually can stop a revive, if a crusher is mixed in you can use force sword push to send them to the ground, if a dog is around you just use shove anytime you hear the sound cue for the leap and they will get staggered no matter what direction you are looking.

Yeah, there are definitely builds and situations where if I have to clutch either it feels more or less impossible or I feel like a god. It's rarely in-between for me.

The other day was Zealot with Eviscerator and revolver against a chaos spawn. Nope, I just couldn't do enough damage when trading hits.

Last night was shouty vet with laspistol and catchacan sword against a plague ogryn. Couldn't have been easier, even with the horde and specials being heavier.

I avoided this game for the past year until it seemed Good. Now it seems Good and I have 3 fresh 30s and MANY questions. It’s extremely hard to look poo poo up because tons of articles and Reddit posts are from launch or early in the game’s lifecycle when there was a lot of hype for it, and everything has since changed. So, questions. No dumb “what is the best build” questions don’t worry.

1) what is the best method for obtaining endgame weapons? I am guessing:
-check armoury exchange for well-rolled (as close to 80 as possible on individual important mods and base rank close to 380), upgrade and cross fingers for 2/4 usable mods
-grind dockets and spend them on brunt’s poo poo looking for above
-save up Melkbucks looking for items with good blessings so you can rip them and put them onto your good base

2) same question but for curios. I’m guessing similar approach but simpler because smaller and more deterministic mod pool. For example I found a 21% health blue curio which I can now upgrade to gold and try to get at least one good perk and then replace the others.

3) what are some fun, unique playstyles / builds you guys have created with your own talent trees and weapons? Feel free to share games lantern trees. So far I have played a veteran generalist (VOC, lots of ranged damage, juicy melee dmg / attack speed / crit chance with weapons specialist) with revolver and power sword, psyker with venting shriek and brain burst, and an exclusively melee spec Ogryn.

4) what are some excellent melee and ranged weapon options for each class? Like I’m aware the power sword w/ power cycler IV is “meta” for veteran. What are some other options? I would like this for each class because the internet is filled with 12 month old Reddit posts and AI generated TOP TEN DARKTIDE WEAPONS articles and I’d like to avoid the obvious traps. I’m sure most weapons are viable. Strongly prefer weapons that deal with hordes well so fast attacking and/or horizontal. (Ogryn shovel mk5 is amazing.)

5) are there any plans to introduce new factions to the game like T’au, Tyranid, Orks, Necrons, etc? How about new mission types? New enemy types if the only faction will be chaos?

6) now that the game Doesn’t Suck and Fatshark feels it has built some goodwill in its fanbase, should we expect some paid DLC with badass content anytime in the near future, like VT2 with the new content/classes/weapons DLCs?

7) any traps for each class? For example, Ogryn has a number of crit-related stuff on its tree (mostly the right side), but Reddit tells me that stuff generally sucks because Ogryn has dismal crit chance across both the character and the weapons. Meanwhile I saw someone upthread talking about random specific Zealot weapons having higher crit chance which I wouldn’t know anything about. I’m guessing it’s in the weapon description but god drat there are a lot of weapons and I can’t see info on them without crafting it or having it be in the armoury exchange. I want to try stuff out but it sounds like there’s everything from passives that don’t work to passives that just loving suck (like Unstoppable that increases ogryn toughness gained by 10%, so it goes from 5% to 5.5%). I found the Ogrynomicon and the Atheneum extraordinarily helpful in assessing Ogryn and Psyker skills and weapons, but nothing like that seems to exist for Zealot and Veteran.

8) how does the move from heresy to damnation go? Is damnation the same thing as auric damnation? Heresy is fun but damnation just seems so loving dense, like how do you fight your way through 15 crushers and 12 maulers simultaneously. Krak grenades, massive crit chance and damage, rending?

9) favorite personalities for each class? Thinking about rerolling my good boy veteran to male cutthroat so I can yell things.

Thanks in advance for any answers goons!

I'm not gonna answer every question here and just touch on the ones I think are most imporant:

1)For end game weapons skip the armoury exchange and just get a bunch of dockets and just roll brunts. Much easier and way less "I gotta check the store every hour" brainworms when 99% of the stuff you find is gonna be worthless.

Your thoughts on Melk are correct, but once in a blue moon you'll also find an actually good weapon and those are also worth picking up.

2) this is the only use for the armoury exchange in endgame imo. Keep an eye on Melk's too.

3/4) Just experiment. pick a pair of weapons you think work together and try making a build around them. Alternatively, make a talent build for a class and try and fit weapons to it. Engage with the game, there's literally so many weapons and weapon combos in the game you literally can't go wrong with just picking the coolest thing you think you might like and trying it.

Except for the Bolter. It kinda just sucks right now, probably the weakest single weapon overall.

5) who knows, we're holding our breath on maybe getting genestealer cult but as of right now Fatshark hasn't really teased anything, just some the usual weirdo dataminers finding poo poo that hasn't been implemented for many many months now.

8) just fuckin' play Damnation. The pub stove is way better than in Heresy, it's literally night and day. You'll still get stinkers on 5s but eh you just deal with it. The Auric mission board is just a board that only contains 4s and 5s with a minimum of a hi-intensity modifier. That's it, that's the whole difference. There's no health or damage differences, it's to give a larger variety of high difficulty maps than the four-ish available on the regular board. You can stick to the regular board while you dip your toes in but eventually you will find that the only thing that excites you is Auric Damnation.

10) Male Loner Psyker, Bodyguard Ogryn, Female Loose Cannon Vet. Honestly I'd rather just be able to change voice packs whenever though, I'd like to hear some of the less used VAs a chance to interact with others.

Here's a few I like a lot and rarely see:

Martyrdom Zealot with Crusher. The crusher is a deeply silly weapon. The damage isn't amazing, but nothing in the game short of monstrosities can stay on their feet anywhere near you. Put entire packs of crushers on their asses. Throw ragers around like paper. Chorus plague ogryns into pits. Downside: it has kinda annoying combos, since the anti-horde cleaves are HL and the single target overheads are LH (yes). The CD reduction on damage means you get a free chorus anytime anything hits you, and then you get to bonk everyone to death really fast because of martyrdom.

Surge/Shield Support Psyker. The idea here is to be a walking Swiss army knife. Surge is bad right now, but it has one unbeatable upside: when you kill people with crits, they explode in a comically gory cloud of blood and lightning. I'll gladly sacrifice optimal DPS for that. Shield + Siphon means you have domes up all the time, and Smite locks down hordes and packs of big nasties while your team cleans them up.

1) Get random grays from Brunt's Armoury. Buy until you have one that is suitably high base stats (max is 380), or if you want to pay more attention, just good stats on the things that matter. E.g. you really don't care about mobility on some weapons, so you can have a 350 and still be just fine if you have high stats in the parts that matter. Upgrade, hope for the best. This is gonna cost a shitload of dockets, so quickplay and/or damnation are good for making it quickly.

4) Ogryn Bully Club Mk3 with Thrust is amazing on a heavy-melee build. Swings side to side, hits hard, and it's not uncommon to lead melee elites killed and boss damage. Kickback is practically cheating right now. For Veteran, plasma is amazing. For Zealot, I genuinely cannot understand anyone that isn't using the Zarona revolver (the old one, not the Agripina). Psyker varies a lot based on what you're trying to do with your build. Devil's Claw Mk4 is an amazing weapon for all human-sized heroes. It looks boring but has a solid swing pattern, good overheads, and its parry mulches ragers.

8) Malice to Heresy is a tougher jump than Heresy to Damnation. Damnation will play mostly the same except things hit harder so you can make fewer mistakes. But at the same time, most damnation pickup teams are much better than heresy pickup teams, so you might even find it easier.

9) Zealot: Agitator for both sexes. This is my only strongly held opinion here.
