its hard to understate how angry the pakistanis are at the army atm. i used to lurk on a pakistani-run military/geopolitics forum that was full of bootlickers for their military. place was mostly a cesspool but you could get some interesting information/discussion out of it on a few rare occasions. two months ago the government shut it down because even those guys had had enough.

mila kunis posted:they could just recreate their old party if they're allowed. the question is whether the army will get away with rigging the election or smashing them outright this time. the population didn't rise up for the PTI or imran when he got jailed, so who knows. the people are pissed at the army, but the PTI is just another liberal party without the ability to have sufficiently armed and disciplined cadres or rouse an insurrection the way a communist party would have. the army might bet on stochastic acts of violence and protest against the establishment, which they think they can control. you say that but pti blokes used social media to successfully organize voters for their candidates.

I'm sure it's much easier for China to spy on Kinman that it is for Kinman to spy on China so why do anything. Just use it to test new surveillance tech/Havana Syndrome guns.

Are they measuring China's deflation with the same bullshit metric that leaves out housing, food, and energy?

the big difference is that China has the bright red Mao button to increase state control and adjust value relations accordingly. It is nowhere near of playing the same game as the west like, having a public intervention with an independent central bank would be dysfunctional because of monetary policy dysfunction, sure, but the People’s Bank is under party authority and acts in tandem with the government.

We like to imagine china as essentially the same as the US but minus the freedom. Without taking into consideration the simple fact that their psychic warfare capabilities are eons ahead of what the CIA has been able to come up with, which lacks the deep spiritual foundation and instead relies on dissociative drugs due to America's shortage of human souls

1stGear posted:Are they measuring China's deflation with the same bullshit metric that leaves out housing, food, and energy? the last article i looked into they were using chinas board of statistics website which had non-food inflation at positive 0.5%, but the price of pork came down about 30% last year which dragged food prices into deflation territory so when you added it all up the overall economy was deflationary because food got cheaper that is to say, a doomsday scenario

deflation is bad for the economy because many people will go hungry today on the chance that food might be slightly cheaper tomorrow

Fat-Lip-Sum-41.mp3 posted:Doesn't China have a money helicopter mechanism ready to go? Didn't they test a digital currency account by giving money to everyone for the new year some years ago? There hasn't been much rollout news lately. I think the plan is one day it will be mandated from the alipay app to replace the alibaba virtual payment. Jack Ma already transferred the ownership of alipay to a more state controlled holding. Also Douyin got their license to do cashless payment as well. I am more interested in whether it can be used overseas for small business transactions. I have a friend who stays in the US with a political refugee application status (whatever it is called, C1 visa or whatever. AlI know is the successful rate for a getting green card is about half. And he and his wife already has a son born in the US so he is fine). He does half of his jobs on Uber, but he is getting more and more private limo service jobs from visiting Chinese. All on client referal basis. So most of his payments are in yuan from alipay or wechat. stephenthinkpad has issued a correction as of 14:57 on Feb 9, 2024 |

Extremely smart western analyst: so the trick with China is, you need to actually listen to what its government tries to tell you for years and take it seriously. Western investors: what? you're not making any sense
