Hell yea, that one is long overdue. Give us Dark City while you're at it.

Please.

Will definitely be picking up The Crow. I somehow haven't ever seen Mean Girls despite being the right age to watch it when it came out but I might pick it up cause I like what I've heard about it.

I watched it for the first time last year and it immediately placed on my all timers list. You might have heard every scene quoted and yet nothing compares to seeing them all in context. Absolutely hilarious.

Mean Girls is every bit as well-written, clever, and fun as a 40s Sturges comedy.

It's part of the triumvirate of "masterpiece 2000s chick flicks" that also includes Legally Blonde and Heartbreakers.

I also got the new Puss in Boots (yay!) and a Resident Evil (boo!). Finally, speaking of clownshoes websites, my god Mill Creek's MovieSpree is jank personified. Plus it ended up being Documentary Now!, which I already own on Blu :pwn:

For those who have been waiting for Columbia Classics 4K Volume 4 to come down in price (currently $215 on Amazon), Deep Discount has it for just $140!
https://www.deepdiscount.com/columbia-classics-4k-ultra-hd-collection-volume-4/043396633360

(It includes His Girl Friday, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Kramer vs Kramer, Starman, Sleepless in Seattle, and Punch-Drunk Love)

The Columbia Classics box sets consist of individual films in their own cases with a slipcover, a deluxe foldout box for the cases, a hardback book, and usually a bonus disc or two. The bonus discs this time are the complete Starman TV show remastered in HD.

Criterion is still essential for the restored original version of The Front Page, but I'll be honest that I want the set mostly for that, Starman, and Punch-Drunk Love.

Shortly before the Kino 4k of Night of the Hunter came out, I went to eBay to finally upgrade my Criterion DVD with the original Blu-ray digipack release that I had wanted for a long while, but was a bit too rare and pricey. Predictably, there were numerous copies suddenly available and quite affordable, I got one for $20 shipped with tax.

It seems weird to me, since there is a lot on the Criterion that isn't on the Kino and vice-versa. Basically everything. A lot of everything.

I guess if you don't care about that stuff it makes sense. Whatever, that benefits me!

I actually like how Kino's 4K "Criterion poaches" have been arranged so that you want to keep both editions. Though, I'm perplexed to how Criterion missed out on grabbing 4K rights to The Night of the Hunter and The Killing.

update on the porno sale

quote:

Holy smokes, it's almost Valentine’s Day, which means that Vinegar Syndrome’s annual Valentine’s Day sexploitation cinema extravaganza Sale will be having its debut over at https://www.m kicking off at exactly 12:01 PM EST on Friday February, 9th and running through 11:59 PM EST on Wednesday, February 14th (Valentine’s Day).

If you’ve partaken in this sale in the past on the VS site, you probably know what to expect, and that is: super discounts on hundreds of hardcore and sexploitation Blu-rays and DVDs from all of the Mélusine family labels and Partner Labels, including Peekarama, Distribpix, Quality X, Pulse Video, Command Cinema, and more.
But that’s not all, as the over one hundred hard and softcore films titles originally released under various Vinegar Syndrome brandings, including pre-Mélusine era Peekarama releases, will be marked down to unheard of low prices; some as low as 75-80% off SRP!

Of course, what you’re probably most excited for are the set of new releases which will be dropping the moment the sale goes live. The first will be our debut Peekarama double feature, following the launch of the Mélusine site, and collects a duo of wacky, SF lensed rarities from a notorious actor-turned-director.

The second, from Quality X, has been many years in the making and will mark the Blu-ray debut of an exceptionally well made, critically acclaimed, and multi award winning genre milestone, the likes of which have, arguably, never been equalled since.

Plus, for those of you who missed out, Pulse Video's deluxe Marilyn Jess and Brigitte Lahaie books will be back in stock along with several other publications and surprises, some of which will be brand new to the site!

I wonder if they oversold on the last restock of Marilyn Jess books and that's why I've waited since the last VS sale for the copy I ordered during that restock, but now they'll have more to fulfill orders.

I also wonder if I'll be able to stack the new Melusine stuff into the previous order if it hasnt shipped by V-Day.

I wonder if it’s Night Dreams. There was talk that VS wanted to do it, but that there were legal difficulties in the way I think so maybe the sub label have worked it out. It’s definitely an interesting and unique flick that’s is worth watching even if X rated isn’t your thing.

It's Roommates (1982)

quote:

Joan, Sherry, and Billie couldn’t be more different. Joan is a small town girl trying to make it as an actress in the big city; Sherry is a fashion model whose Achilles’ heel are easy men and easier drugs; and Billie is a former high class hooker who’s left that world behind for a career in TV production. Their lives become interwoven when Joan and Sherry move into Billie’s luxury apartment as roommates. Living together, the three women develop a bond and love for each other they never thought possible; learning from their respective successes, failures, traumas, joys, loves, and heartbreaks.

One of the most critically acclaimed and awarded hardcore features ever produced, Chuck Vincent’s (Misbehavin’, In Love) ROOMMATES offers career performances from its all star cast, including Veronica Hart (Amanda By Night, Boogie Nights), Kelly Nichols (The Toolbox Murders), and Samantha Fox (Her Name Was Lisa). Astutely scripted by Vincent and Rick Marx (Doom Asylum) who took inspiration from the real lives of their leading ladies, this thought provoking and sobering drama ranked as one of the last true hardcore “crossover films” and at last comes to Blu-ray from Quality X, restored in 2K from the best surviving film elements, and featuring a comprehensive selection of new and archival interviews with cast and crew.
