It's so loving warm all the animals and plants seem convinced it's may in Feb, but technically this isn't the hottest it's ever been in history (that was 4 years ago, for 1 day, not multiple) so it's fine

Europe should get cold as hell if that happened, so a bunch of people online would get really smug about global WARMING all while their biosphere falls apart. Posting while Rome burns!

I have to admit I didn't really ever understand intuitively that a 2C warmer climate would mean individual days would be 30-40F warmer than normal.

My understanding is that it's global warming, as in oceans + land, but my land based intellect forgets about that part. And the bit where oceans are like 70% of Earth's surface area. And how oceans don't heat as quickly as land. Basically lol, lmao 2c means like 3-4c on land from what I understand, and that means like +5-7f. From what I understand as a random Internet dude

But noooo, we got Elon musk over here sucking up all of the air in the room so that he can manifest his vision of sitting in traffic in a f-117 while never being not online and everyone else is fantasizing about getting into the ground floor of whatever the next bored ape. it was 60 degrees today and like 50 for the rest of the week so the landlord took the opportunity to dig a giant hole right outside my window to access the sewer line or something the pipe is now exposed with an orange fence around it, hopefully nothing bad happens when it goes back to 25 degrees next week

MightyBigMinus posted:poo poo like this is some of the most depressing because once you realize how incredibly stupidly easy it is to solve some of the problems you have to look at then why arent we because yes it'd be absolutely trivial to mandate standardized clear glass bottles with no adhesive labels and metal caps, and then weekly re-collection and re-use them with autoclaves. it'd be trivial to require a standardized degradable food containers and no coatings, or giant plastic packaging. it'd be trivial to mandate crop rotation instead of just dumping more fertilizer. it'd be trivial to abolish designed-obsolescence where all new fridges or microwaves die exactly 3 months past warranty and immediately chucked into a landfill for a new $99 microwave off amazon. but that interferes with capitalism. we're going to consume every last bit of resources we can because we have to
