I hope they do something more interesting than this, filling in the missing melee/caster slots for Nurgle/Slaanesh/Tzeentch is so low-effort that mods already took care of it. I guess we'll find out on Thursday when they announce the SoC Tzeentch addons

Right, sure, we all do, but core roster still needs to be filled out. A huge amount of people just never touch mods, or don't like them because they break mp, or they stop getting support, etc etc. Those are needed slots to be filled, and asking for every lord release to be a unique special unit would fly in the face of what pretty much every other faction has gotten. Better to push for making sure there are some skill lines and ability tweaks that make them unique ala celestial generals rather than just "this is a chaos lord, but with the mark of nurgle that can ascend to nurgle daemon prince." IMO

Game has started crashing regularly with my current campaign in the 120-150 turn range. I'm running SFO with all the submods playing Cataph's Southern Realms. Can't seem to see any pattern to the crashes, most recent I was just swapping between armies on the campaign map.

One fun thing I discovered was stealing a hero from another faction, specifically Belegar's. I was borrowing one of their armies which I ended up losing and the ghost pal hero ended up respawning and sticking with me going forward. No idea if this is associated with any mod but loved having them tag along for my adventures like a Gotrek.

This can happen with any immortal hero in vanilla.

Yeah, relying on mods for staple units is not good at all. Especially as the company has burned through goodwill, there are lots and lots of unit mods that haven't been updated or that aren't compatible with other more "we actually modify the game" mods. They generally make the game fragile to return to and that's fine for unique experience but not for what are effectively content patches.

Just crashed upon loading and trying to switch characters/armies. This has been getting progressively worse in the last 30 turns or so. Has this happened to anyone else? I assume it has something to do with cumulative load but can't quite understand what is building up to get to the state where it's crashing constantly.

The Mounted Version always looked pretty cool.

It's AoS version the Harbinger of Decay even got a cool update.

We also got this alt Nurgle Lord near the end of the Fantasy called the Lord of Blights

there are rot zombies and leaner plaguebearer style demon guys, but even they have like bloated rotting guts to some extent

the rot zombies seem more represented in 40k, probably because of the lack of a proper undead faction in 40k, but are canonical in fantasy too

i was playing and the lore blurb for plague toads said they were considered lesser than nurglings despite being giant toads the size of a horse, which just reminds you how much everybody seems to like nurglings. Same for the Lords of silence in 40k. nurglings are just affectionate cats if they can't get you sick.

Nurgle seems to go with the "bloated corpse" look, full of gas and maggots, rather than a dessicated mummy or skeleton which the undead factions have covered. Still, it does help a character stand out when they break the standard look for their faction. A Typhoid Mary Nurgle champion who's fully asymptomatic but an extremely virulent carrier would be interesting.

Thanks to whoever mentioned the guns of the empire mod. I loved TW Napoleon, and always wanted a mod that would let me play that style of army in TWW and this is pretty dang close (was doing a similar thing with VSea before I knew about this mod, but I just don't dig the pirate vampire aesthetic, as hard as that is to believe).

I'm using only the mod units, only the first and second tiers of line infantry so far, and modded and vanilla artillery. The infantry is slow firing and lots of AP, so tends to be strong against smaller more elite units and struggles against large low armor units. Your mortars do good work in those situations, but if the lines meet, and they will, your mortars will absolutely shred your guys along with the enemy.

The tier 3 line infantry has more armor, but otherwise doesn't seem all that much better than the previous tiers. I'm also about to start mixing in the early specialist units. We'll see how things look as I fight more factions and higher tier stacks, if I can hold up or not but having a lot of fun in the early and early mid game.

Oh also, whoever was listing reasons people avoid mods and included "because they play co-op," if that's your reason, don't let that stop you, give it a shot. I haven't tried it with guns of the empire, and full disclosure, when we co-op we tend to avoid mods with lots of scripting or full overhauls, but we've played 400-500 hours of co-op with 10+ mods going on some of them and we've never lost a campaign to a bug or an unrecoverable desynch (or anything else).

seems like solid additions. Changebringers look insane tho, it will be so easy to position them to do incredible damage as long as the skies are clear

do human units count as large units if they are mounted on the discs? having those solid melee lords/heroes on discs seems really useful, especially if they arent weak to anti-large

Meh, nothing particularly exciting here but Tzeentch got most of the big centerpiece monsters in the original DLC release, so that's fair enough. Giving the melee champion three heads is a cool way of making a slot-filler feel more unique, which is cool, but I hope they gave him unique animations to match.

He should definitely not get a penalty for getting hit in the back, if that is even a thing for lords/heroes. Maybe just really high Melee Defense and/or some Ward Save or something.

I enjoy them finding old obscure figures to use.

I have also wondered how the original designers felt seeing their creations animated.

Man, I can't even imagine how frustrating it is for the CA devs to see all these cool units in Age of Sigmar only for GW to shoot down even the most minor and milquetoast of inspirations for TW. "No beaks on Tzaangors!" has gotta be some running joke around the office considering how much copy they've devoted to it in these dev diaries

Having a hero who gives a leadership boost if the lord is defeated seems really interesting. If he's got good campaign skills then maybe he could be an excellent guy to hang back and back up those lords who get recruited just to beef up garrisons.
