Normal people - those who aren't psycho careerists who think being a seat moistener in congress is a meaningful job - are able to say "Yes" or "No" when a simple question is put to them. they want to avoid any 'gotchas' later

Okay what the gently caress is it about trying to hide gifts that makes people go in the most ridiculous loving spots that they never usually go in? I swear to god it can be months that nobody looks in a particular cabinet on the porch, but I stick some valentine's candy in there and five minutes later sure enough someone's on the motherfucking porch, opening cabinet doors.

I'm definitely turning into an old man/my own dad but God I loving hate everyone in my family bellowing at each other across the house, rather than getting off their arses and taking 10 seconds just to walk into the same room as the person they want to talk to.

I can’t say I’m sad we’re getting our own place a block away tomorrow morning

It's really nice when you have enough trust built up in an adult relationship where you can just say "Don't look in the bottom drawer of my file cabinet, I hide presents there." Then you hide your booze there because you know they won't go poking around.

I loathe TrustArc, the company that handles cookie preferences for a lot websites. It seems to be especially popular with US companies/sites. I can't understand how it's possible to create a system so bad that it takes "a few minutes" to decline from optional cookies. It didn't actually take quite that long, but it was stuck there for about 30 seconds, which is hilariously long.

The "friendly voice" opener script that telemarketers have been using more and more the last few years. You know, the, "hello, it's nice to hear a friendly voice" line when you answer the phone with anything short of "gently caress off and die". Even the door to door people are doing it now! Which is great because it'll be like, someone is hammering on the door like I owe them money, I open the door with an expression on my face like I've just stepped in cat puke with my sock feet, and they'll have the nerve to lead with "OH HI THERE it's so nice to see a friendly face!" Motherfucker this is my tricked face, the way you were knocking I was gearing myself up to tell a cop to get a warrant. I know, I know, joke's on me for doing boomer poo poo like answering phones and opening doors.

The fact that Reddit, Facebook, NextDoor, TikTok and Twitter are used by way too many YouTube creators, news outlets, and articles for their entire content. The number of "articles" that are just describing what happens in a TikTok is ridiculous. A radio or podcast host reads an AITA post from Reddit and adds virtually nothing of their own commentary. I don't need people to regurgitate posts from other media, thanks.

At an "Emo Night" show where they're just playing a playlist of the top 100 emo songs at a concert venue with a bunch of people dancing on stage, feeling like I want to die. Which is at least on-theme, so I've got that going for me, which sucks. Got suckered into it because "we made plans!" and "when you were drunk you said you were down to go!" At least the tickets were almost as cheap as the drinks are expensive.

Read current events articles enough and you begin to see the same tropes used repeatedly: "x scramble(s)/are scrambing to y" "Critics/x pounced" "x weighs/is weighing [policy initiative]" "Shot dead" (which I think I've complained about before. As opposed to what: shooting someone alive?) Find new metaphors. These need to be retired.
