I wonder what it's like for an AA studio to completely and utterly humiliate AAA developers?

Doctors are calling them "The most burned out developers since Fortnite".

"They are dead at their desks. Features are barely playtested. The corpse cart makes an hourly pass, but new employees are dropped into the chairs as soon as they are emptied (it's a Helldivers reference)"

That's putting words in my mouth. But that is a massive content pipeline considering it's a much smaller studio.

Destiny 2 has 1800 people working on it and it still somehow doesn't have the bandwidth to add in new enemies after 10 years.

"Maintenance?"
"Two days."
"Community manager?"
"Two hours."

Didn't think about it but the Galactic War stat tracker updating every bullet shot, bug/bot killed, and helldiver KIA must have been a ton of needless traffic with the amount of people playing.

To clarify on that tweet and to set expectations properly, the only thing that's been officially confirmed is new warbonds every second Thursday of every month. One new warbond a month, not new warbonds every week.

All that other additional stuff (biomes, weapons, stratagems, enemies, objectives, whatever else) is not confirmed to be coming on a monthly basis. It's coming, but we don't know when or how frequently.

Is it safe to say that I shouldn’t really expect to get any Super Rare samples playing solo? Tried a “Suicide Mission” and couldn’t find any (and eventually got wrecked). I also dropped in on a 3 man Helldive difficulty game and we did three missions and didn’t pick up one.

I'm not sure how it was in the original but I didn't know these til I tried them:

- Eagles will rearm after they drop their charges, and you can do it manually early if you choose to.

- Boosters from the battlepass are reusable for every mission.

- Linear air strikes come in perpendicular to your facing when you throw them.

Unlocked the DMR Counter-Sniper and it's worse than the old DMR in every way. The old DMR is pretty bad, too. A lot of weapons in this game suck on anything higher than medium difficulty. The incessant ragdolling sucks too. A significant number of things about this game actually suck pretty hard.

People do the max difficulty solo. So it's do-able. By you, I have no idea.

But at higher difficulty levels, especially solo, you're going to be looking for missions that require less combat, and you're going to be stealthing around. You can (slowly) run around, get some super rare samples, blow up some eggs with a strategem at range, then extract.

boosters are squad boosters, not one and dones. only one person in a team needs (or can) use that specific one, but it effects all the helldivers.

They really should have named boosters to team auras, squad perks, squad enhancement, etc, I've definitely seen a few people hear the word booster and associate it with temporary/single-use

Unrelated to that, I got the 'increased radar range' destroyer upgrade and it is surprisingly handy - the bonus range is great for checking which way the enemies are going to close on your position / where all the nearby patrols are. Pleasantly surprised.

If you think the randomly being ragdolled halfway across the enemy base and having to fight your way out isn’t fun then I’m not sure Helldivers is necessarily the game for you.

I keep falling back in love with the basic assault rifle using a strategy of orbital stuff + anti material rifle to strip armor if needed and then mag dumping.

Scout armor is so clutch for allowing you to nail a patrol with an airburst or clusterbomb

I know that was my first reaction, "oh this game has boosters, bet you got to spend money in the cash shop" then I looked deeper into it and saw it was permanent bonuses, I agree they should rename them.

Thanks all.

I was doing ok, even with the bug breaches, but found it basically impossible trying to do the actual mission. Obviously going about it the wrong way.

Does the light “stealth” armour make much of a difference?

I guess the problem is also surviving the pickup. When I was in that Helldive group it was just relentless Chargers and Bile Titans.

Doesn't that thing only
hold six rounds...?

If you're prone and completely still behind a rock, patrols will just walk by five or ten meters from you. And until a patrol attacks you, they won't send up the alarm that summons a bug breach. Minimize line of sight, movement, and stance, and if the patrols that the shuttle evacuation attracts don't find anything, they'll just go away.

e: there's a specific "phermone puff" bugs let off when they send up the alarm, so if you kill everyone before anyone can do that, this is also an option.

ee: and when it comes to breaking contact, smoke helps immensely, once you're out of line of sight they'll basically just keep going in a straight line. Minefields are also very useful to deter pursuers.

I was skeptical about this game from the previews because it looked a little too meh, but drat was I wrong. The soundtrack, the world building, the animations, the details of your ship warping, launching drop pods, everything about it is so cool. It's the perfect blend of Halo, 40K, and ST.

IDK what they are referring to specifically, but I had a weird experience playing Terminid Elimination on Suicide Mission difficulty (7). The bugs spawned so slowly and the spawns were so sparse that we almost ran out of time before killing 150 of them. So I reckon it has to do with things like this.

Saw one of the devs posting in discord, seems like they just keep hitting new peaks after deploying patches.

DISPATCH FROM SUPER EARTH HIGH COMMAND

Grave news Helldivers, the defense of both Draupnir and Mantes was spread too thin, and thus failed at holding off the Automaton offensive. Now the socialist robot menace has established significant footholds on both planets.

However, a small but forceful Helldiver task force, in a race against the clock of Mantes falling, managed to liberate Ubanea before supply lines were cut. This Heroic liberation was unexpected, and Super Earth High Command is in the process of drawing up altered battleplans to support this nailbiting victory.

Ubanea now finds itself in Automaton dominated space, surrounded on all fronts by the Automaton aggressors. Super Earth calls upon all available Helldivers to assist in the defense.

I ran a duo Challenging mission with a much higher level player. They were super cool and showed me how a bunch of missions work. At one point they shot a buried shipping container. I thought they wanted me to look at the door so I turned to run over to it. They actually shot a red canister to blow it open. I took one step towards the door and blew 30 yards past them in the explosion. Probably the hardest I've laughed in a game in a long time. Overall random groups have been chaotic but fun.

So the defence campaign needs to be successful overall in order to get anywhere from 0/8? Is there somekind of number of missions one needs to do in order to be counted or something?

1stGear

Here's to the new us.
The Major Orders are community-wide missions. They are not missions specifically for you (those are the Minor Orders). The counter will only tick up if the community as a whole succeeds in a defense campaign.
