It's not definitive as they were already immensely unpopular, but low key transphobia couched in "parental rights" language was one of the Hail Marys the MB PCs threw ahead of the election last October and at least in Winnipeg it definitely seemed to hurt them more than it helped. A lot of people were pissed off at the notion that parents needed the government getting involved in decisions regarding their kids well being, so I'm hoping for a similar reaction to Pierre here.

singh has always been a deeply unserious candidate and mp. hes only in power because hes played the game well and made the right friends to help push him through a few years ago after the mulcair disaster and theyre keeping him propped up. whether its because they just want to pass the time as the cheques cash, or they sincerely believe there is no better shot than him at the helm (a deeply depressing notion), it doesnt matter. i remember years ago posting about how he had absolutely no knack for presenting a platform, seeming like had any vision for the future or what he can imagine canada actually looking like. there are no elected officials that are looking towards a better, different future. they all just want their chance to move the steering wheel a few degrees one direction or the other
