Let's do the space-time warp again!

Kill Teams have different rules between KT and 40k though, so you could give them full-on Fly in the 40k datasheet and find ways to limit it in Kill Team. Doesn't Kill Team happen indoors/shipside? It seems like you could narratively limit it without it being too bad.

Oh, they absolutely could. And I hope they do! My point is they may not think it's as obviously correct an idea as e.g. I do.

Like how everyone wanted GW to use the existence of Adeptus Titanicus as justification for an actual Imperator Titan model, but we don't seem to be getting it because playable Imperators would be bad for Adeptus Titanicus no matter how rad it would be to have an Imperator Titan that can fit in peoples' houses.

I've always argued that AT isn't a good reason to make Emperor-class titans, however LI definately would be. That's because the Imperator concept was designed for when Epic was at it's peak, and fits neatly into a combined arms game. It has point defense weapons for protection from nearby enemy troops, an anti-air laser, various other weapons to handle any target sizes below titans, and of course a transport capacity. My first Warhammer game back in 1995 included the Imperator titan and some little card tokens to use as Skitarii titan guard which took objectives & protected it from boarding actions. It would be awesome to see new Epic get around to proper tiny Skitarii guys, then finally update the Imperator.

While I don't expect it any time soon I really hope that a new Imperator will be towards the end of the current LI release cycle, or a centrepiece at the start of the next one.

Void Dancers already have fly across the board in Kill Team so Vespids probably wouldn't be an issue.

Model-wise it feels like KT has moved away from units you wouldn't get in 40k like Navy Breachers, Beastmen or Arbites. Scouts, Scorpions, Mandrakes and even Night Lords a bit all feel like they could just be released straight to mainline 40k.

They're double-dipping to help recoup the cost of new moulds I guess. First in KT, then in general release.

Or spreading out the releases so they're not all clustered around codex releases. Not to mention covering stuff that comes out after, like the Scouts.

they definitely want to get their money's worth for sure - we've seen them build out that imperial agents faction just to use Breachers and Arbites etc. in 40k -but I feel like its more like they're pulling in stuff that would go to big 40k anyway and writing out rules for KT because they've run out of kits expressly earmarked for KT.

It still boggles my mind how they haven't made a 40k version of Underworlds yet.

Long range rumors are they're playtesting the next edition of KT so maybe that'll be a return to more bespoke teams.

I loving hope not, KT second edition invalidated 3/4 of my bespoke KT 1.0 teams, and if KT 3.0 means I have to learn a new rules set AND all my 2.0 teams don’t work then I’d be pretty pissed.

KT 2.0 is way more new-player and new-team friendly because unlike 1.0 you don’t need to buy 5 boxes to get one model from each box to make your team, and it already has bespoke teams with a bunch of specialists anyway that you can build from 1-2 boxes, so the barrier for entry is a lot lower than 1.0.

Any of Mike Brooks' Ork novels are a hoot from what I've heard. Then there's Nate Crowley's Twice Dead King if you want more serious Necron drama. Crowley also did the Ghazkhul book, which I have heard is solid as well. Finally coming out on paperback too.

Beyond that you're on unsteady ground. There's Phil Kelly's Tau books, but they're iffy from what I've heard.
Then there's Gav Thorpe's Eldar books, but I honestly can't recommend anything he's written based on my own experiences.

Apparently the Ynnari books sold so badly that GW cancelled the rest of the series back then. Which says something about GW and Gav's writing chops I suppose.

Twice Dead King for more Necron, Valedor is the best book for Eldar

Only a short story but One Million Years is a fun Necron story thats also the first and I think still only appearance of the Votann in the library.

Speaking of Necrons and short stories, the novella “Severed” is really great, and if you liked ‘The Infinite and the Divine’ then “War in the Museum” is like a prequel story to it by the same author and has more Trazyn and Orikan being assholes to each other, it rules.

Indeed, I was already considering doing something a little different from the recommended scheme on the box, but I'm going to have to get paint. (Loose idea: work a green metallic/copper-tarnish aspect in there since I like oceanic poo poo, possibly make the hair light green for an advanced Sailor Moon joke)

fwiw I think it'll be on the lines of Warcry 2.0 so just refreshing the rules more so than invalidating kill teams and models! Seems like around 3 years is a pretty standard cycle for GW to refresh its games.

It looks exactly the same as the Basilisk gun platform but on a rhino chasis, the gun shield is different though. Rhino looks pretty similar to a Chimera too, I can't really tell the difference between the two except for the big smoke stacks on the sides, and uh the indented areas on the front and back that are kind of similar to a land raider.
