It progressed through the kitty's gut without trouble until there was a poopy strand poking out her butt. The family tried pulling it free, but this made the cat start crying, so they had to 'trim' it every day with scissors until it worked its way out. Our tree has lost the horrors of tinsel and lametta, we just have lights and interesting baubles now. Some of the baubles are probably over 70 years old, including some bizarre ones that were originally bulbs in a set of lights but they just the strangest looking things. I must photograph them next time they are out.

My folks still use those icicles every year, they just stopped putting them at cat level and keep an eye out for ones that fall down. Probably not ideal, but I haven't heard of them having any problems in quite a while.
