The Great Twist
Even in Eisenber's story, him saying they were going to withold her winnings because she lied on the application, and then said she was later "brazen" enough to sue. For 50 grand. Yeah, dude. :jerkbag:

The Great Twist
Also jesus that Eisenberg claim about the show changing out clues for women. (which everyone else is denying heavily)

quote:

According to the book's author, Harry Eisenberg, who worked as a staff writer on the show for seven years, last-minute changes were often made to assist female contestants, including changing a tool category to fine china, weapons to clothing, and a $400 clue for athlete Michael Jordan was changed to dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov.

Catching up with Thursday's game and hooray at a contestant giving a response that was already a question without adding "what is"!

Lady night's tourney game was pleasantly surprising. As soon as I saw Cris I assumed he'd dominate, but the winner went 3 for 3 with Daily Doubles and Cris bet it all in Final and was wrong. Cris is a good guy but I just don't like to watch games when a single player crushes the competition. I don't think it's as fun.

If only J6 recogized this. It makes me add it when the correct response is a question otherwise I have to wait the 10 or so seconds in order to repeat it.

the finale of The Floor was very good, i do not know where this show was for the previous eight weeks but i recommend watching it (it's a two-parter). it feels very much like a quiz show for maybe the first time and there is extremely good play and a lot of tension. i guess if you cast 75% non-quizzers minimum you're going to get a lot of filler but they really stuck the landing

I watched the whole season and it's pretty good. The premise has more juice in it then it than you'd think. It often comes down to speed than knowledge, although sometimes fatal mistakes can be made!

Figured out where they were going in Final Jeopardy. Even knew the colonial name. Guessed Guyana instead of Suriname

I like the gameplay but hate the floor strategy. I hope they can add a twist or something for season 2.

suriname = dutch tends to come up reasonably often in J! (roger craig's insane ToC back-to-back true daily doubles come to mind)

The Great Twist
I've only just vaguely been tuning in since it was announced Bialik got the boot, but holy crap tournaments. It didn't occur to me until I saw complaints about unending tournaments in December that that they must have prepared these episodes during the writer's strike to ensure they had enough content for the long-haul.

well, the tournament of champions only runs for, uh, somewhere between 6 and 10 more episodes. and then there's...only one more tournament! but next tuesday will be the start of regular episode taping again (per this website which i have not done anything to verify: https://jeopardy.mattcarberry.com/roadmap40.html)

That was a fun episode! I admit I was rooting for Ike to pull it off, and I'm glad to see he at least got close and proved that he belonged there. He even gave the same wrong answer to the final that I did!

Not sure what to think. Holzhauer is cocky but he comes across as a pretty OK person in real life. Yogesh comes across like a humorless dick. I was rooting for the priest (though yikes not knowing the answer to that Final).

I correctly guessed Ephesus, and I can credit Rick Steves' Europe for knowing the answer. I've learned a lot from watching that series.

It's perfect, because he has no one to blame but himself for that....which I hope, being game 1, is really going to tilt him going into the next games.

He's definitely struggling on the buzzer, that game was ONLY that close because of the missed daily double and a few big dollar clue incorrect responses.

The wager: "only Troy and I matter"

The extra comment: "only Troy and I matter"

The results: "oh shiiiiiii-"

[Edit: if Yogesh had just made the wager, I wouldn't mind, Stratton's dilemma, etc. The extra comment assuming Troy won is the rude part.]
