Seems like it's mostly just a shorthand for going "This guy is a (very good/average/below-average) athlete for his position" and gathering all the combine testing numbers in one place It's less so how the RAS guys post and moreso how draft discourse surrounds it. I don't think its the worst thing in the world but it adds to the pile of people who quote vague draft poo poo as gospel when arguing about prospects

Can't believe there are 9 WRs who could be picked in the first round and I'd go "Yeah that's a good pick"

A small part of me was hopeful Mitchell would be there for the titans but no way he makes it out of round 1 now

I like that theres so many WR prospects. One of them has to fall out so I can have a rage aneurysm when he draft a dlineman or something.

I think it was about ~7-8 years ago that people started catching onto Green Bay's tendencies and then RAS comparisons became fairly ubiquitous throughout draft discourse over the next several years. This chart goes back to Gutekunst's first draft in 2018: Of all the players drafted below 6 RAS only Karl Brooks (6th round 2023) has looked decent. Everyone else has been an outright bust.

So there's no way Worthy is dropping out of the 1st round then. He seemed like the ideal WR for the Chiefs anyway, but he probably won't even reach them now.

I mean everyone knew he was going to test super fast the guy was hitting 4.4 in high school it's just more the fact that he gets shoved off his routes so easily that people were talking 2nd/3rd day for him. He's smaller than DeVonta Smith, bone thin and not strong nor does he have the torque ability with his arms that Smith has. Washington was bullying the poo poo out of him at the Sugar Bowl. e: I have him in the 2nd round which is mostly based on his screen game prowess and he will get open over and over on go routes but top 15 is ehhh Doltos fucked around with this message at 01:04 on Mar 3, 2024 |

It'd be neat to see the NFL careers of the players who are like Top 10 or so in RAS in each position. Probably wouldn't be many big names.

trevorreznik posted:Is this an unusually fast and athletic draft class? Even the big guys are fast as hell A lot of the prospects are very athletic. A bunch are 5/6 year athletes that had a while to develop so they're more in their athletic peaks than younger guys. Others are just typical insane athletes which is kind of a prerequisite to get into the NFL. There's also a ton of leftover covid year players in the NCAA so the athletic guys look even better next to mediocre talent.

This will favor newer players since they're generally better trained, better diet, etc. Not going to do all positions, just a few that caught my eye -- you can see for yourself pretty easily anyway just by filtering to position on the website. quote:QB At a glance it looks like RAS translates decently to performance if you're a RB, WR, or pass rusher. If you have to cover? Not so much.
