Wistful of Dollars posted:These Twitter ads, man. Twitter could address 95% of these dropship scam ads by just banning any account with “co” at the end of the handle from purchasing ad inventory, but I suspect that would also kill 95% of their ad inventory. Meanwhile, Elon probably saw this ad, called the Fremont Tesla plant, and told them to start using this product for all adhesive purposes.

Who cares about the glue, they should sell that turnip instead. It would completely revolutionize material science. We could build a space elevator cable out turnips.

Nenonen posted:"It's disturbingly unexciting" is a pretty good quote Here's one that was exciting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irTizOVM-3U Piss-poor communication and test planning put the firefighters in close proximity to exploding wheels. Not the tires, the *wheels* failed. Come for the fire, stay for the flight crew repeatedly requesting delivery of the stairs that will let them get off the burning airplane.

The drill-powered winch makes a kind of sense. weight probably matters in that setup, you have a controllable variable electric motor and battery on your belt already, shoving it onto a small light winch as needed is like a free five pounds. especially if you don't have easy power access OSHA would be bubba doing the same thing with his ryobi and getting stranded up there overnight

With that sort of ascender do you have to reverse the drill to descend, or would you just ease up on a locking mechanism/brake?

Oh my god, this brought back a memory I had totally forgotten of looking inside a RAAF plane when I was a kid. They'd soldered a small lump of metal onto several switches and I had no idea what they were for and the airman who was guiding us just said, "Uh, ignore those".

I'm moderately less terrified by it now
