Honestly it's kinda a relief, since I don't really care that much if he was lying about everything else if he's alright. I mean, it's really weird and kinda hosed if he was lying about everything, but I'd rather he be a live liar than dead/dying.

In reality instead of some boring-rear end nerd in his late thirties who posts way too much about video games and football, I'm actually a globe-trotting secret agent that's actually very handsome and cool and rich. Honestly, I wouldn't give a poo poo if he just lied about being a badass merc who lived on an island in Canada and had to help with security in the Brazil Olympics and all the other dumb poo poo he lied about. IIRC, there was a goon way back named HumperMonkey or something that also made up elaborate stories and pretended they were real, but the stories were entertaining so I didn't give a poo poo (note I really don't know the details so I could be missing some bad poo poo there). Lying about his daughter's death and his own cancer, assuming both are lies... That's kinda something else altogether, and a really lovely thing to do. That said I'm clearly not lying enough in my LPs.

There's a lot of observations that a lot of this stuff is kind of obviously bullshit in retrospect, but for the most part only in its totality; if you only followed Id's LPs you might only be hearing about some of it now. The daughter thing is the only part that really went big, and what was even there to disbelieve with that? A man tells you his teenage daughter has died, you offer your deepest sympathy. That's not being fooled. I have only one, extremely specific, regret. I don't regret that when Slowbeef shared his suspicions with me (this was a little under a year ago) that I took a view of suspending judgement; that was the right thing to do, I still think. What I do regret is that I didn't do then what I did yesterday; quietly request an alt check. Because, as you have probably heard, the admins struck gold on that one. I can't say for sure anymore, but I think if I had known then that the forums first heard of the daughter dying by way of his own goddamn alt account, which had been sockpuppet cheerleading his own LPs since the beginning, I might just have started shouting about this myself.

still chewing on things. not happy about it now, but doubt I'll be happy with whatever ends up happening either. what I knew them as was one of the big name LP'rs who introduced me and a lot of other folks to Nier/Drakengard, who faded from the LP scene around his videos getting bopped. which, given how I *thought* things were going struck for em me as a last straw, hanging up their LP'r hat for other things deal. not much reason to really think on em after that. don't think I ever heard anything about them being in a PMC or related stories til earlier, so if Id talked about in the LP's either I've forgotten (not unlikely) or it was understated compared to what they told later/elsewhere. didn't join SA because of em, but I'd say their work did have a hand in that eventual decision. Iunno. tired, too early in the morning for this sort of thing.
