I think the hero’s mustache changes length depending on what camera they’re using.

are the same thing!

I think it's because the movie was filmed over like three years or something so the constant changes in hairlength even within the same scene is just a shot reverse shot being filmed a couple of years apart sometimes.

Amazing film.

yeah WInterbeast rules. I knew going in there was a stop motion monster, I did not know there were like ten different stop motion monsters, and they're all delightful.

I also really want to shout out the shot construction. Most of the movie is just locked down single take scenes, I'm guessing do to practical limitations, and they really put a lot of thought into how all those shots are put together. They're always nicely framed with a lot of depth and usually some bit of interesting lighting. Not the kind of thing you see very often from super low budget movies.

I found the Home Grown Horror box set at Half Price Books, strangely enough. Plus a copy of Massage Parlor Murders, with slip!

I watched the beekeeper and it was stupid as hell and I enjoyed it, especially the horrible improv heavy exposition FBI agents.

But one scene really poo poo the bed and I don’t know what Ayer was thinking.

This south African cartoon character merc shows up and threatens Stathem and is like “to BEE or not to BEE…”

And he says

…”to bee” and he shoots him or something

The fact that he didn’t just throw bees at him at that moment is a massive missed opportunity

I just love that the movie is called Beekeeper but all he does is set fires. He tends bees at the start and indulges in the stupid, stupid puns throughout the movie about hives, but at no point does he actually use bees to do anything.

but, uh... well, there it is

A beekeeper would never endanger his bees by placing them in a heated combat scenario and any combat training they may give to the bees would only be for a worst case situation where they had to defend themselves. They respect the bees too much to knowingly put them in harms way and in that way Jason Statham as The Beekeeper is a true embodiment of the beekeeper spirit.

That's the thing though aside from one (1) line it's not even puns he's completely straight faced in laying out his philosophy about beehives as a metaphor for society.

Which makes it much funnier.

Given they don't seem to be budging on the clear grassroot campaign to see the film, looking forward to seeing it in 5-10 years when someone finds it on a server or one of the people involved in making it decides to fully burn that bridge.
