I sorta think Haley won’t or will take her sweet rear end time endorsing trump.

maybe i'm just stupid though.

Not dooming, just musing on where "new" conservatives come from. There's a huge contingent of young men in particular who are the dumbest, most hateful people imaginable whose motivations include nihilism through to politicised misogyny. I'd like to see some statistics on this in the US, but in the UK, teachers report an alarming number of boys who parrot lovely Andrew Tate, alpha grindset talking points.

For some people, there's the "gently caress you, got mine" drift to the right, but I don't think that's as pronounced as the clichés make it out to be and Americans only really have the choice between a centre-right and a far-right party by most metrics. We're not talking about college socialists becoming more conservative once they get a mortgage where fascism is involved, I think.

Would she actually care? Lara Trump is about to be the head of the RNC. There is no more GOP; its entirely MAGA. Either Pmurt wins and elections don't matter anymore, or he loses and whatever is left of the GOP collapses like a dying star

Also, if Pmurt doesn't win, she would be extraordinarily primed as a conservative candidate in '28

I doubt trump would give her anything if he won. He's been leveling insults at her quite often because she didn't bend the knee early on. Her pulling a state off of him so he doesn't get a 100% victory will burn in his narcissistic brain which I doubt he can forgive. Plus she's a woman.

Yes I know this. It isn't nearly enough. A few states taking action is not actually real change for the majority of people suffering without access to abortion care.

My reaction to the statement was because it feels exactly like when people would say 'oh if Roe vs Wade is overturned people will be out on the streets', and the answer is they weren't, it's being handled very gingerly via electoralism and then individual state victories being held up as signs of big change to come.

At this point, don't ever think of Florida as a contest. It's a red state. It sucks that it's populous, but it's red. It might as well be Texas. The media will make it into a contest because there needs to be a narrative and Florida carries electoral weight, but it's going to be red. At least until a demographic shift occurs or politicians put in the work to change people's minds. Until then, at least from an average citizen's perspective, it's red. I'd rather energy be spent on places that don't make me feel embarrassed.

Florida, like almost every other "red" state has been gerrymandered to hell and back by Republicans. They don't need a "demographic shift" they need fair electoral maps. There are as many black people in Florida as Maryland and Virginia combined. Hundreds of thousands moreso than in NY. Florida is also the #3 state in America for Latino/a people behind California and Texas.

The gerrymandering in Florida is vicious and total.

E: one example to check out: John Rutherford represented district 4 back when it looked like this in yellow:
Notice the smattering of purple in the center of jax. that's the urban core area and if I could find a higher res version you could see the district split down to street levels along where the wealthy white people and poor black people tend to live in the city.

After a redrawn district map which still wasn't great, he moved from old district 4 to new 5, seen here:
which contains only the richest people from his previous district.

There was a little bit of hope recently, as the district maps were found unconstitutional and ordered redrawn, but the SCOFL upheld the maps on appeal.

You might want to check who Florida's Cuban population politically sides with

There are many different Latino groups in the US, they don't all vote Democrat. Florida is red because multiple demos that are growing in population there are red.

Like gerrymandering absolutely, and I have no doubt the GOP on Texas and Florida cheat in elections openly with how much they accuse everyone else, but Texas and Florida do have chuds moving in daily to live in their Gilead hellholes.

Lol aaaaand that is why I was saying you can't just lump latino voting population in together based on an average across the US. Then people say things like, oh the gerrymandering in FL is disenfranchising the obviously dem latino population. It just becomes an inherent assumption that all brown people vote dem.

sorta. alot of young men feel lost as gently caress in general when your that age and want to be contrarian assholes while finding themselves. I was wannabee troll laugh at the sad fucks online at that age and was until community college. i also think younger men needs heros and the left kinda has a bad job providing them for various reasons, the right doesnt because as long as you follow the guide to a degree, they are less likely to turn on you. with the left, its basicaly "one gently caress up and your a marked one" which sure makes sense when its actual gross bad poo poo, but some of that stuff gets weird purity fight poo poo. same with historical figures. also liking fictional characters is bad too. so lol. but anyway, i think some will obviously stick with it, espcially "townies" but i think many will just normalize out.

Yes, I know. Not all citizens in any grouping are a monolith. Including Cubans. Further, the Cuban population makes up less than half the Latino population in Florida, so I'm not really sure why you bring that up except to try to argue something you're wrong about.

Each state has the flexibility to allocate their electoral votes in different ways. This is actually how Maine and Nebraska currently split their electoral votes.

Florida doesn't currently do this but with deep red districts everywhere there's noone to stop them from trying to change to something similar.
