It's okay if you have any questions.

Someday Horizon Forbidden West will be on sale for less than $20 and I'll pick it up then.

I think it's also the culture war™ heating up, with Trump, #MeToo, BLM, etc. You have a vocal but ultimately small group of actual bigots who hate on these releases for stupid reasons, and then the executives and/or devs jump on that to claim that the poor reception of their product is solely due to the 'toxic fandom'. No, you just made a mediocre game.

In Baldur's Gate 3 half the characters are in gay relationships, a handful of homophobes have loudly complained about this, but no one else cares because the game is actually good, a lot of love was put into it, and they're not constantly trying to bilk you out of more of your money with scummily priced microtransactions, lootboxes, season passes, and so on.

I feel bad for all the people losing their jobs right now, but not for some of these companies that are starting to struggle.

I own the first, but gently caress me if I wouldn't double dip for some QoL updates for controller etc

Slight correction that the two devs who (famously, there might have been others) blew up were from the Horizon studio, which is pretty funny given that they were complaining about UI with how Horizon plays.

Though maybe they wouldn't have had those meltdowns if literally every release of a Horizon game, on consoles and PC, hadn't been directly competing with better RPGs.

I cannot begin to envision a world where STALKER plays well on a controller, tbh.

Ya having played GoT multiple times and played most AC games.

GoT is basically a way better designed AC game, it's just way more sophiscated whether it's the types of enemies, combat design there is clear rock-paper-scissor, the minimalistic ui. Like it's one of the best designed games in terms of applying in game markers to direct the player.

A must recommend for all PC players for me. I won't be getting it since I already got it but this would have been my most requested Playstation exclusive after Bloodborne + Demon Souls.

This makes it sound like the priority was bringing the games to consoles, not to update them for existing PC players. GSC Game World's own YT trailer makes no mention of PC.

Stalker 2 is coming to Xbox later this year so it makes sense that they'd adapt whatever control scheme they already have developed for that game.

It's not like it has complicated controls. Outside of the inventory, it's just halo or cod. Point gun, shoot, crouch, grenade. That's about it.

I've started playing The Hong Kong Massacre, an OK Hotline Miamilike. It's got the John Woo look down pat, and you can slide and dive and gun down gangsters in slow motion, but it's definitely not as polished or well thought out as HM and the fact that it's entirely ranged combat makes it closer to HM2. It also has a dumb system wherein you earn upgrade points by NOT using its bullet time system and by only hitting enemies with your shots, which misses the whole point of being a wannabe Hard Boiled. The whole weapon upgrade thing also means that there are only four guns in the entire game, and if you're dumping points into just one or two of them, you're less likely to pick up and improvise with what you get from killing mooks.

Anyway, it got me thinking: did any of those big Hotline Miami mods ever come out? I remember one in particular that died due to teenaged modder drama lol.

Weapon swap, leaning, low crouching, fire rate, UBGLs, anomaly detector, PDA, multiple quick meds, multiple quick items.

It's not insurmountable but it's probably a really unpleasant radial menu or something.

A radial menu, or maybe the d pad does 12 things based on whether you are, or are not, holding down bumpers? Or maybe you just don't lean!

The degrees of crouching can just map to a crouch button and it'll be like a motorcycle transmission, it just steps up or down one at a time.

Genuinely curious, what’d they do with the BG3 console ports? You could probably get away with just a Destiny cursor and maybe some ability radials or something like the XIV system but I assume they went further than that?

Bg3 has a truly bewildering series of radial menus, from the thirty seconds I tried using a controller. It works, and works well, but I'm old and frightened of new things so I didn't keep using it.

I hear BG1 is actually quite nice on the switch.

Imagine getting so burned by Suicide Squad that you go "Making real video games is hard, so instead of trying to do anything worthwhile we're taking our ball and leaving for the market where quality doesn't matter."

WB Thinks ‘Hogwarts Legacy 2’ Should Be A Live Service

So, what I don't understand about this, considering how I thought that a major corporation is meant to work, they have the very obvious contrasting examples of Hogwarts Legacy (minimum live service elements, made obscene amounts of money) and Suicide Squad (built completely around live service, utterly crashed and burned, huge losses all around no matter how you slice it) and their response is 'We need to make Hogwarts Legacy 2 a live service game!', isn't the whole idea that you go for the strategy that makes you more money, not the one where you light it all on fire?
