Ignoring the outrage machine's takes, there's real ethics concerns with the DA. She charged Trump in a very convoluted way using one of the most complex parts of Georgia law, its RICO statues. Back when that case was announced, there was lots of expert legal analysis which amounted to "why is the Georgia DA's office making this so unnecessarily difficult for themselves", and now it seems likely that at least part of it was the DA wanting to give her BF a way to rack up a shitload of billable hours. IIRC the cost for his services so far is a substantial fraction of $1M, which is a bit more serious than a few trips and dinners.

It's not technically fraudulent. He was hired to do a bunch of legal research, he did it, and from the commentary I've heard (a discussion on the Serious Trouble podcast), it's likely that even if Fani Willis is removed from her position, the Georgia DA's office should eventually be able to secure a conviction. The damage is that there were probably much simpler, quicker, cheaper, and more reliable legal strategies for convicting Trump of crimes in Georgia.

They weren’t dating until after he was hired.
He’s a former judge and well qualified.
He was making more in private practice.
They stopped dating before the indictments were issued.
She repaid him for any travel or other expenses, they went Dutch.

This is all sworn testimony and much of it supported by other evidence.

It’s completely a non issue regarding any sort of prejudice to the defendants. Even if all the allegations were true it would be a fraud on the state and not a fault with the trial or the case.

It’s again, maybe a few thousand dollars at most and the hypocrisy of Trump just forcing paybacks, kickbacks and nepotism to enrich himself and his family with hundreds of millions of dollars is just too loving much.

I think my favorite example was working with a right-wing coworker, and he stated that he was gleefully going to add extra gluten to his lunch as we walked to the cafeteria. I asked him why he would want to just dump flour on his meal, and he was dumbfounded, because he had no loving idea what gluten actually was.

As a parent of a person with celiac disease, we actually have to avoid some butchers because of cross contamination due to seasoning, use of flour, or shared prep spaces with contaminated ingredients.

It's not about the meat, it's about what you are using in your prep area and the other items that may be prepared there.

A piece of gluten the size of a speck of dust is enough to cause a rather severe reaction for her so we have to ask seemingly stupid questions like this. It's not because we think meat has gluten in it.

Granted there's way better ways to ask then " is this meat gluten free" because that's not really what they should be asking if they have a gluten allergy.

Gluten fad dieters can gently caress off however as they have made an ecosystem that isn't even friendly to the people that medically need to avoid gluten

Yeah. As someone with nut allergies I think we need room for “stupid questions” because yeah if I’m at a new place I’m gonna ask something “stupid” like “do you use peanut oil in the frier?” or “are there any nut dishes prepped in the same area?” or “did the bread come from a facility that uses nuts?” Food allergies are a lot more than just avoiding the food in question and after 15 years or so of dealing with this stuff I have learned that the biggest roadblock is people who get exasperated if you ask a question they don’t think is worth answering.

White House pill pusher Ronny Jackson, aka Don Jrs connection, was secretly demoted from Rear Admiral to Captain in 2022 even though he still lists himself as Rear Admiral on Twitter and official paperwork.

"The Navy demoted him in July 2022 following a damaging Pentagon inspector general’s report that substantiated allegations about his inappropriate behavior as a White House physician, a previously unreported decision confirmed by a current defense official and a former U.S. official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive personnel move."

"Jackson is now a retired Navy captain, those people said — a demotion that carries significant financial burden in addition to the social stigma of stripped rank in military circles.

Despite the demotion, Jackson has continued to refer to himself as a retired rear admiral, including in statements released since the Navy reclassified him as a retired captain. Former president Donald Trump and other Republicans have also continued to publicly describe Jackson using his former rank; it’s unclear if they were aware of his demotion."
