I'm torn between Israel blows up this port with a "Hamas" rocket, or the US is just going to take over the occupation of Gaza because that way they can keep feeding the beast and it makes it harder to extradite the US from all this.

"Biden is supporting a genocide." "Actually these new aid drops and the president taking the enormous step of building a port show the administration takes the issue of Gaza seriously and is doing all it can to aid the suffering there." thats it. millions will be spent to paraphrase these words so democratic party flacks can say this on reflex and wash their hands of the genocide. this is why it is happening

nothing because its very easy to say maybe stop sending endless military aid and diplomatic cover and allow the kilometers of trucks in all achievable with a phone-call also this pretty much is a guarantee it goes no-where Israel would be involved in the inspection process, and the World Central Kitchen, Chef José Andrés’s organization, would bring the aid to shore using smaller boats, the official said. World Central Kitchen already has volunteers on the ground in Gaza.

I cannot understand how any of this is superior to just letting more loving trucks in?! Like it seems like such a pointlessly expensive suggestion compared to the free good will of just unthrottling regular aid access? What is the actual point of a stunt like this?

Like it seems like such a pointlessly expensive suggestion compared to the free good will of just unthrottling regular aid access? What is the actual point of a stunt like this? The Israelis (are) were really going to starve everybody in Gaza to death, almost 600,000 people. This stops that, this creates the physical logistics system capable of feeding that many people, but I very much don’t see this being likely to continue if Biden loses the election. The US election now has existential consequences for Gaza. It’s now very clear that one candidate is worse in the issue than the other. If they are willing to do this, they (the Biden administration) are likely (but clearly 100% not publicly) threatening the Israelis with other consequences.

I dredged up (ha) the latest publicly available manual, and no chance is this happening. It won't be resourced, it won't be allowed to happen by Israel, I doubt the military is even capable of it anymore. It's a very impressive document laying out everything up to building major container ports, ports than can unload tankers, or even berths for major warships but, and I'm kicking myself for not thinking about this, lol like the second step is landing troops ashore to do survey work and take sand and soil samples.

I assume if this is real at all, it's just copying Andrés's preexisting plan that Israel has been rejectingquote:One of the difficulties is covering the last nautical mile to deliver aid to the coast, as Israel does not want anything or anyone to approach the shore at that proximity. “We have to present Israel with a plan to show that we don’t have too much contact with the Gazans,” Camps explains. He assures that they have presented a technical project with different alternatives, getting around the problem of that last mile. “In the last few meters, you can throw the food onto platforms that reach the beaches, and from there José Andrés’ organization, which is made up of Palestinians, would take care of the control and distribution.” https://english.elpais.com/internat...obox=1709824128
