I've said plenty of times that I think 3BP is some of the most embarrassing incel porn ever written and may as well be the words "virgin engineer needs to take anti depressants and get laid" written ten thousand times, but I did take one valuable thing from it. That dude is so bad at writing / understanding western characters that I have now fully internalized every single complaint about cis hetero white dudes writing terrible characters from pretty much every other demographic. It took me awhile to even tackle the other books to get to that stuff because the last bit of the first book when it revealed the aliens felt like I was getting punked. A guy who writes extraterrestrials at the level of a 50s pulp author won a Hugo. Was also funny finding out the way it was written wasn't some artifact of translation but how the original book was written and structured. There feel like a lot of things to learn from the across the board excellence of the new shogun miniseries, and one of them is that you actually can kinda redeem deep cringe material in adaptation if you do a good job. Totally granted, I don't see any reason to trust the people doing netflix 3BP particularly

So I went and saw this movie on the big screen last night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGQLS7g9xLQ I heard that Quentin Tarantino hails the director of it as one of his most favourite obscure directors. Obviously the movie has a gratuitous foot scene where a freak (one of the worst sort of werewolf costumes you'll ever see) eats a guys toe.

the fallout games are the only games i have religiously played (up to and including 4) so i actually am excited to watch that trash. but i already know what will happen. they will invent some big threat that shoots a blue laser into the sky and a ragtag group of waste landers and the vault dweller will have to stop it. would love for it instead to be episodic adventures but that is no longer possible in modern tv
