Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1st and his family/estate released a statement about it today. People everywhere online have been posting about it and I saw this photo of him wearing a Kilban shirt!! Game recognize game.

Jeff notes that he had Jim Kammerud, another cartoonist at The Lantern (and eventual animator for Disney), letter here since Jim thought Jeff's lettering wasn't professional enough and he was starting to think seriously about submitting samples to newspaper syndicates. He eventually developed his own Bonefont for the comic.

I don't think there's anything wrong with using lizard people in general, but you do have to be careful not to say stuff like "they likely still subtly guide the hand of man" because when you combine that with lizard people it definitely sounds antisemitic.

Yeahhhh, this one's tricky because that particular line does push into the David Icke side of things, but Serpent Men are so ingrained in the Conan mythos that it doesn't even faze me. Ugly racial politics are an unfortunate intrinsic element of pulp stories, but I think sometimes a snake cult is just a snake cult.

Luann

Bernice has already said, "Don't do a puppet show for Piro. He won't like it." That is the extent of her obligation to "help" Luann. If Luann decides to ignore the advice at this point, that's on her. And Bernice shouldn't be remotely torn here; she should be furious that Luann keeps hectoring her to betray the confidence of a mutual friend. Rare to have a conversation involving Bernice where the other person is the rear end in a top hat, but here we are.

That said, she's right that a therapist should not be working for her friends. And Bernice is not Piro's therapist and should not be attempting to be. Kind of silly of me to point out when it's 'Luann', though.
